Ocean Avenue is a wide boulevard that cuts through Carmel East to West. Divided in the middle by a wide median, covered with bushes, trees and flowers. Along the central 6-7 block segment, you will find that every door leads to a store, a boutique, and art gallery, a restaurant or a bar. It is a great space to stroll... More

This street leads all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The street is lined with small shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and gives a feeling of small european village. Usually plenty of tourists and visitors on the weekend, free parking may be hard to find, most with 2 hours limit. Strict parking enforcement.

This just has to be the quaintest street we have ever walked. When we lived in San Francisco, we used to make about two trips a year to Carmel. Walking seemed to be a cinch. Now, as we are older, we walked the length of the street in both directions, and came back to our hotel room totally wiped up.... More

From art galleries and jewelry stores to places to eat, Ocean Ave is the predominate street into the heart of the village. If you follow Ocean Ave down to the bottom of the hill you'll run into... On my 2nd day in Carmel I ventured to the Village, walked through the many boutiques, galleries & tourist spots. Love to stop and chat with the shopkeepers, many have interesting stories to share. Had a afternoon bite to eat at the Tuckbox for "old times sake" and then walked and shopped until they rolled up the carpet and everything... More

Better have good feet & hips & knees for this street! We loved Ocean Ave, chock full of interesting little shops & plenty of galleries & great shopping! It's quite a steady incline as you start from the beach but it's definitely worth it, just take your time.😏

This has a good mix of high-end and boutique shops with various restaurant options. As a main street it has a lovely quaint feel amid the luxury and the walk takes you down to the beach
