After years of passing by, finally stopped. This is a great beach! Lovely coast line. The trail up top has many flowers in bloom. I was not able to get up into the calla lily valley due to a knee injury but will be back.

I drove up highway 1 from LA to SFO and I do think this was the best beach I found. Reached via a lay-by and hilltop walk covered with wild flowers you're suddenly dropped down onto a stunning beach.

We visited in late May and were delighted by the fields of flowers before you get to the beach. We found a little stream leading to the ocean that had wild calla lilies growing all over. Beach was very clean and had lots of driftwood....More

Several trails were closed during our visit, but aside from that, it was a great mile hike along the coast. Lots of small wildlife (rabbits, squirrels and such). Flowers were all in bloom this early May.

Just south of the Carmel Highlands area and at the beginning of the fabulous, dramatic Big Sur stretch, Garrapata has a series of well worn hiking paths along the ridge and also down to the beaches. The recent rains have provided for wonderful color that...More

There isn't much public access to the shoreline on Highway 1, but this park offers it. There's ample parking, and a pretty easy path down to the water. The beach is lovely with cliffs around it, and the waves break over it very picturesquely. it's...More

Yes, you can drive in and some of it would be handicapped accessible . It is a State Park however and in my memory, only a small part would be easily handicap accessible.
