We watched a bride and groom have their wedding photos taken on the top of the ridge. The turquoise water below, the wind moving her veil -- a very special afternoon. I was leery about going there-- Garrapatas is Spanish for ticks. I was careful...More

We loved this beach so much that we stopped twice on our day trip to Big Sur from Monterey. Plenty of parking on both sides of Highway 1. Big blue waves crashing over rocks and a lovely soft beach. We also saw dolphins swimming close...More

Big Sur coast and beach experience at its best. Awe-inspiring views, soft golden sand, and crashing waves over rock outcroppings provides for a memorable afternoon.

As most of Big Sur is still closed this really saved our day after a relatively underwhelming hike in the park. Right along highway 1 there is a turnoff where you can park your car - and a series of steps and trails take you...More

Gorgeous setting on the cliffs of Big Sur overlooking the ocean. Lots of trails. Beautiful creek which feeds into the ocean creates a tiny estuary lined w wild calla lilies. Plenty of wide beaches, too. Unfortunately, trails on the east side of Hwy. 1 were...More

On the one hand, most of the beaches from San Francisco down through Big Sur are outstanding - but this one was quite special. Easy parking on the side of the road - a nice walk down through a succulent garden to steps down to...More

One of my favorite beaches on the coast south of Carmel. Only about 20 min from Carmel, so easy to get to. Parking on side of road. Part of it is closed due to storm damage, but you can still visit.

Nice sandy beach and a great walk along the cliff for some great views of the coastline. Well worth stopping off to explore. Not very signposted - we were looking for it but only stopped by chance

One of our favorite places in Big Sur, especially in 2017 since the Pfeiffer Bridge is out. Be careful on the beach, the stairs were gone in March (washed out) at the bottom by the beach, easily a 6 to 8 foot drop-off at end...More

Must stop at this park to see the views of the coast, like no other! The coastline in this area is rugged and breathtaking, truly a magical place.

Yes, you can drive in and some of it would be handicapped accessible . It is a State Park however and in my memory, only a small part would be easily handicap accessible.
