I absolutely love this park with its sweet gazebo and expansive grass area but its been overrun by homeless and RV's parked there permanently. Sad that Carlsbad council won't do anything about it. Carlsbad is NOT a sanctuary city!!

We like this little park toward the Oceanside border of Carlsbad and have been here many times. It's home to some historic Carlsbad buildings, has a few benches and restrooms. The park is just over 2 acres, and has a rose garden, a gazebo, in addition to the historic buildings, which include the Magee House, Heritage Hall, and Granary. Heritage Hall was Carlsbad's first city hall and police station. Their website says that tours of the historic buildings are offered by the Carlsbad Historical Society. There is a nice expanse of lawn for tossing around a ball, a Frisbee or to hang out with your dog.

As you can imagine, a 2-acre park does not take long to tour, but it's a great spot to visit while walking along the beautiful beaches in Carlsbad. Magee Park is only a couple of blocks from the beach. It's adjacent to Carlsbad Village which offers dozens of restaurants and shops. Make sure you check out the wall of the Witch Creek Winery at the corner of Carlsbad Boulevard and Grand Avenue, which is only a four-minute walk from Magee Park. There is a mural entitled "Catnap" on the wall (check out the photo) created by Oceanside artist Michael Summers. The Carlsbad Village train station is also a four-minute walk from the park, offering easy access to the park and village.

Park taken over by homeless transients smoking pot, sleeping in bushes, living in pavilion and on the house porch. Shameful. Don’t take your family here, especially kids.

Small park with signs on the attactions including the oldest building in the Carlsbad area. This is a good short stop for local history.

The land which forms this park was donated to the city by the last resident owner of the house on the property. She also donated the house which is now open to the public several days each week. The very knowledgeable docent, Charlotte, who guided me through the house told me so much of the history, not only of the house, but of the founding of the city and those who brought it into being. Charlotte also gave me details of the furnishings, all of the period (late 1800's) and some that were donated by the last owner. If you love history and/or antiques, you'll enjoy your visit here. I must add that it is not the best place for small children to visit; older teens might find it interesting. Also, there now are many people who may be homeless who spend their time in the park. While they in no way made me feel threatened or uncomfortable, you should be aware that they are there. One visibly disturbed man, after I smiled at him, thanked me, saying I was the first person who had smiled at him. So...if you have a smile to spare, perhaps you'd share it.

This is a small park next to the Army-Navy Academy at the northern end of Carlsbad along the coast hwy. It has a couple of acres of grass on which my son and I used to throw a baseball. It also has a nice rose garden and a native plant garden. There are a couple of buildings, one of which houses the historical society office and another that is for holding events. There are sometimes events on the lawn. There is a small parking lot. On street parking can be a problem since the park is just a couple of blocks from the beach.

Of interest to longtime visitors/residents of the area - the gazebo that used to be at the Twin Inn restaurant has been moved to the park. Also one of the chicken statues that used to be outside the restaurant is stored in the barn and can be seen thru the window.

There are a few picnic tables, but no BBQ facilities.

Nice scenic little park in Carlsbad. Great setting for a wedding we attended, or just to visit and relax on the grounds. Good for kids or adults and convenient to other local attractions and eateries.

Don't miss this park! You can enjoy it for a few minutes or a few hours. There's a native plant garden in front of the old home. And it's an easy walk from there down to a nice stretch of beach.

This is a lovely little park with lots of benches, a gazebo, and restrooms. There are some trees so there us also shade. The park includes Heritage Hall, a small facility that is available for rent. It has tables, chairs, a small kitchen, and it's own restroom.
