Very beautiful beach with great sunsets. We enjoyed walking in the ocean and then sitting and enjoying the sun disappearing into the ocean.

Before I had children Carlsbad Beach was my favorite. It is beautiful, not crowded, and a short walk to restaurants. Once I had children in tow I realized I was going to need a new beach or a bigger picnic basket. There are no snack...More

The city and parks system do a great job of maintaining this stretch of coastline. One of the few places where there is still free parking. Peak season expect to use pay parking nearby or drive around to find an open spot.

It was great to be able to walk from the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort directly down to the beach. The waves were a bit bigger than the beach in LaJolla and water not as clear but we enjoyed the beautiful sunset and sitting on the...More

My husband and I explored the coast as we drove to Anaheim from San Diego. The beach was very clean with just minimal seaweed but free from trash despite not seeing many garbage cans. We walked 2 miles and enjoyed the sand between our toes.

Lifeguarded beach. Good for swimming and general beach activities. Not much to see for snorkeling though.

Great place to camp if you don't mind overlooking the ocean on one side and having highway 101 on the other. Not much shrubbery so bring a tarp for shade and enjoy the Sunset!

We spent the day on the beach and felt comfortable to leave our chairs and towels as we went up for lunch. The grassy area upstairs was great for the dogs and the ocean breeze.

No dogs allowed, sadly. I've seen them there off leash before but I wouldn't risk it. Del Mar beach is the closest dog beach, which is another 10 miles south.
