We visited Capharnaum on a tour of Israel. I enjoyed this site a lot, but I am a Christian and it had significance to me. I am not sure if it would be worth the visit if you were not a Christian. The ruins are small, the town is small. There is a good view of the Sea of Galilee,... More

I found this a very helpful visit in terms of appreciating what housing and city structure were like during Jesus' ministry. Entire city blocks have been excavated.

Great ruins of the synagogue. Lovely glass floor over ancient site. Catholic Church required reverence, prefers silence in the church. Compact site so easy to navigate and no hills and such a sacred place.

This has a lot of good information and places to take great pictures. The history of this place as concerned to Jesus makes it a must stop.

We spent about 30 minutes walking around and taking pictures of this fascinating architectural sight....our tour guide read passages of the Bible and all made so much more sense being there at the same time while picturing how it was....being inside the beautiful church above the ruins of the town of Jesus was peaceful ...windows overlooking the Sea of Galilee

Overlooking the sea of Galilee this beautiful church has wooden carvings depicting the life of Jesus. It was the place or town where Jesus preached. The grounds houses ruins which are supposed to be Peter's house. A must see for all.

It's a lovely plave on the Sea of Galilea where you can see the remains of St. Peter's house. It is well preserved and the franciscans built a church on this site...a very modern and simple one. The place is quite and simple and sea right beside it...

Our journey to Israel would not be complete without a visit to town of Capernaum featuring the synagogue where Jesus actually preached. Great photo opportunities of the Sea of Galilee.

It is hard to imagine actually visiting the town that Jesus lived in during his preaching years. The main attraction there is the ruins of St. Peter’s House, where Jesus was supposed to have lived. A large church is built above the ruins. From inside the church, visitors can look down into the house through the glass floors in the... More

We enjoyed our visit here mostly because the old synagogue is likely where Jesus would have preached when he was younger. The site is also pretty because of it's close proximity to the sea. There is a bus park and generally a lot of people up the road but if you go past what looks to be a barrier then... More
