Piedras Blancas Light Station is a great place for history buffs to visit. We went on a group tour of the lighthouse while we were in Cambria over a long weekend. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and really brought the past history of the light station alive. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours near... More

Most people come to this area to see Hearst Castle. This lighthouse is yet another experience of a bygone era. The volunteer tour guide we had was informative, interesting and knowledgeable. Not only do you learn about and see the lighthouse, you also learn about the floral and fauna of this area and how the location is used for education.... More

If you are in the Cambria area try to take the light station tour. It is well worth your time. The tour is an easy walk and the guides are very good. You will learn about the history of the area and the way things were in days gone by.

For only $10 per person, spend 2 hours touring the grounds and learning about the Piedras Blancas Light Station (you'll find out why it's more than just a lighthouse). It was so windy the day we visited, but well worth it! Beautiful scenery, learning about how a lighthouse functions, history, learned about elephant seals, otter and whales (we couldn't see,... We have been coming to the San Simeon area to visit the elephant seals at Piedras Blancas since 2004 but have never taken the time to visit the light station for a tour. Finally on our most recent visit we were there at the right time and took the tour. We found it to be well organized with volunteer guides... More

What a wonderful tour! We weren't sure about the logistics, so just to let you know, you meet at the old Piedras Blancas Motel, where they collect your money or your online reservation. Then, everyone gets back into their cars and caravans down to the lighthouse. There, you meet your guide. All volunteers, we had Abel Martinez, who is so... More

Piedras Blancas --- White stone is the translation and not because it is white rock but just rock covered in guano! We met in a rainstorm at the abandoned Piedras Blancas motel some two miles north of the light station and were split into groups of twenty, paid the organizers (TIP: take your NPS Golden pass or equivalent for half... Well informed guides and an easy walk back through history on a beautiful cliff on the Central Coast of California. Well worth the time and $10.

When in the area, be sure to visit. The location is stunning, the volunteer tour guides are well-informed, friendly, and passionate. I've visited twice and would go again. I saw whales both times, as well as birds, little critters, and wonderful native flora. You can't go to the top of the lighthouse due to safety concerns - it doesn't matter.... More

My husband and I came here during a mini-vacay with 3 other couples in December 2016. We had a group of 8 and one of our friends pre-paid for us and made a tour reservation, although they said no reservations are needed for groups less than 10 people. It's $10 per adult ($5 ages 6-17 and free for kids ages... More
