Wonderful road in the mountains leading to Rarau mountains. I especially enjoyed driving on it in autumn, because the view is fantastic.

When finally arriving at the top it's worth to have a quick course (Pietrele Soimului is very easy and short) and enjoy the amazing landscape.

It is one of the greatest roads in terms of beautiful landscape. Not very long and not very difficult to drive, you should visit it. On the top you can reach a restaurant with great views and take hikes into the woods. You should pay attentions though specially at the night time as there are wild animals in the area...just the other day I was driving there around 10 PM and a deer jumped in front of my car...be careful!

The scenery is absolutely spectacular. You have so many resting places from where you can Take pictures and just Take in the beauty of it all. We went during the week in july and we were alone in the road which allowed us to really enjoy it and not get caught in the traffic from the weekend. It is a short road but it goes thourgh the forest and in the open field so you can enjoy a bit of everything. Before entering the Transrarau from Pojorata we stopped for lunch at Hanul Pastravarului.

We recomande this road! It's better than Transalpina and Transfagarasan due to tge views and the road quality. The forrest is amasing, memorable landscapes. We went until Cabana Raray and from there we climbed towards Piatra Doamnei. They offer you some expeditions into the mountain and if you are well equiped you shouldn't hesitate!

One of the most beautiful roads in Romania, the landscape from their it's breathtaking. You get in touch with nature and there is a lovely pension where you can take lunch.

Transrarau is one of the most beautiful roads in Romania, so you must see it if you visit this area. If you want to enjoy the beauty of the nature, you must go on a week day (not weekends or hollydays, because it is very crowdy, you can't find a spot to park your car and the traffic is a killer). A half of the road is very narrow so I recomend that you enter Transrarau from Bistrita Valley (not from Pojorata), so you can go up on the narrow road and have the rock on your right, not a gap on your left (there is no protection on the side of the road). On the road there are many spots where you can stop your car and enjoy the nature and you can visit Pietrele Doamnei.

As we were travelling from Gura Humorului to Vatra Dornei, we saw a sign on the side with Transrarau. We didn't know about it, but summer of 2016 we headed also to Transsemenic, Transalpina and Transfagarasan. We didn't know what to expect but it was really breathtaking. The road is recently rehabilitated and it is as perfect as it could be. Fresh air, forest all the way, breathtaking scenery, quiet, the real Romania. The drive is ok, not dangerous, not very long. This is really a must see!

I drove this road from Pojorata to Chiril. It starts with beautiful wide sweeping bends up to a lookout on the top. There is little traffic so if you like to drive, you can push quite safely. From there you can take the 175A to the monastery or continue to Chiril. The road narrows to a single lane. It's like they paved a 4WD track through the forest. It doesn't even really go anywhere. When I finished I wanted to drive it again.

This is a must-do! The road is great, recently rehabilitated. It's a two lane road going up the mountain from Pojorata, and a single lane road going down to Chiril. The scenery is breathtaking, definitely worth driving up to the Raraul hotel. It can get pretty crowded on weekends, and it may be difficult to find a parking spot, but, with patience, everything is possible.
Do go up on the Lady's Rocks (Pietrele Doamnei). Follow the blue cross on a rocky trail classified as difficult (I believe it's moderate, though, but it may be much more challenging in winter, I presume) up to the summit, where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama.
Also, you can go to the Hawk's Rock (Piatra Soimulul), from the Raraul hotel. It's a very short trail (10-15 minutes).
