Bodie is a great look into California's history. Interesting to look into buildings and see all the personal effects left behind. This attraction requires a drive along a dirt road. The road was reasonably well maintained and our Jetta made it without a problem. Note...More

Spent the weekend in the Mono County area. Truly a beautiful drive. Truly enjoyed spending the day at this historical park taking tons of pictures and learning about the old ways. Looking forward to going back again.

Bodie is a great place to visit, very worth the drive. The road into the town is paved for about 10 miles, then goes to a dirt road for the last 3 miles. Once you round the last corner, the former town is revealed. The...More

Really enjoyed walking around what is left of a once thriving gold rush town. It's been left in a state of 'preserved decay' which made for some interesting and eerie peering into windows of old homes and other establishments. There are tours but we didn't...More

Stuck in time - a photographers paradise! Very interesting visit! It's amazing to just stand there and imagine what it must have been like in its hey day and then to walk around in this beautiful town that is fixed in a time long gone....More

Best ghost town we have seen. The drive up there is really relaxing with some great views, a little rough towards the end but nothing serious. You should get the self guided tour pamphlet as it helps when walking around town. There is so much...More

Bodie was one of the highlights of our road trip. As others have stated, it is 13 miles off the main road, with the last three miles bumpy, wash-boarded dirt. Bodie is worth the drive but they should improve the dirt section because it was...More

We visited Bodie, a gold rush ghost town as part of our road trip. Situated 12 miles along a road off the main highway with the last 3 miles being a dirt track suitable for the majority of vehicles if driven with care. The ghost...More

Well worth the drive out, even over the 4 miles of dirt washboard road. No problem for cars but would not take an RV up as there is limited parking and hard on RV. A true old west mining ghost town. It was $8 a...More

Quite an unusual place. Small entrance fee. Adequate parking. Simply an old time ghost town for the delight of old cowboys. You will see broken wagon wheels and the post office is shared with the saloon. Along with plenty of antique glass, old rustic houses...More

Pack your lunch....like everyone else mentioned you are in the middle of nowhere and the wonder of the place quickly takes up the whole day. This is somewhere we fell upon by accident and are quick to recommend to others.

You would camp in the camp sites in the twin lake area, most likely. Their is no camping at Bodie. Most of the forest service camp grounds in the area are in great shape

You'll have no problems driving to the turn off for Bodie but then the road isn't ploughed at all - signs confirm this and the last part of the road is very rough with no tarmac. Plus the park may not be open - if it is and... More
