An amazing amount of history - a lot to take in, plan to spend the whole day. Call ahead to ensure the road is open - part of the road is rough gravel road, and it is easy to get misdirected by GPS to get there, so know your route in advance. Gas up ahead of time and take plenty... More

We much enjoyed this visit which really gave a great idea of how the early prospectors lived and the harshness of the conditions. Do make sure you take the right road in though. The correct route (from Bridgeport) gives the last mile or so as rough road but our sat nav took us in the wrong way and it was... More

Bodie is the most comprehensive and most authentic ghost town by far. It takes a while to drive the dirt road there from CA-395 but it's definitely worth it. Absolutely amazing piece of history. And it offers stunning photo ops.

There is a lot of actual written history about Bodie. I read that the mixture of gold, guns and whiskey resulted in a death a day at one point in Bodie history. The town bulged to about 10,000 in it's hay day. There was brothels, saloons, gambling houses, opium dens and all the essentials. When I first saw what is... More

Great place!!! An authentic ghost town! Be careful when driving along the road that takes you there (do not drive over 15 km per hour).

I was here for Friends of Bodie Day 2016. Now, I've been coming to Bodie almost yearly since 1999. And, this year I saw something “new”. If you're “on wheels”, please note that the park now has two “high flotation” wheelchairs available for use by visitors who need one. These wheelchairs are specially adapted for use in the rough terrain... More

We took a detour on our trip from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe to enjoy this amazing place. The roads are a little rough to get there but persevere as you will not regret it. A true ghost town that has been deserted for over 50 years. You have to experience it to appreciate it.....amazing

I've been thought a few ghost towns in WY, CO and NV, but none as well preserved as this one. It looks like time just stop and people left. Even though you can't go in the buildings, you can see enough through the windows.

Bodie is a ghost town as you would expect it. Absolutely worth a visit. The old houses, vehicles, furniture and tools are in a rather good condition and you can imagine people leaving the town from one day to another leaving their belongings behind.

We've been to Bodie before, but this time had to find a back road in. We were stopped 5 miles out by a construction crew who had just closed the road. Apparently prior day's earthquakes had damaged some buildings. Very disappointed.
