We drove in the afternoon to Bodie from Lee Vining via the dirt road - the Cottonwood Canyon Road. We had a Yukon 4x4 and it was an amazing drive. Do this way only when you have high clearance and 4x4 - on the other...More

I would give the State of California a negative 50 stars for this State Park. The park guide at Mono Lake was recommending that foreigner {from Japan with a small rental vehicle} take the ride to Bodie, a bad move! Before going to the area...More

Unique experience. Travel back n time! The volunteers are great in giving more information. Makes you admire the people living in Bodie even. A treasure of a time capsule.

I had read up on Bodie and was not disappointed when I arrived. I do suggest you go online and learn as much as you can about the town so when you arrive you will be more familiar. As you drive the long road to...More

We will be visiting early afternoon, and will probably be hungry by the end of it. Any good cheap eats worth mentioning? Staying overnight in June Lake area. Thanks in advance

Hi, we brought our own food and I strongly suggest you do. It's really in the middle of nowhere so to speak. Perhaps someone who knows the area better could help with an answer. Have fun, you'll like Bodie. Worth the trip!!
is there any camper sites near by? Do you need reservations/ 23 foot trailer

You would camp in the camp sites in the twin lake area, most likely. Their is no camping at Bodie. Most of the forest service camp grounds in the area are in great shape

Is it possible to drive to Bodie from Mammoth lakes at the end of November or will it be too snowy by then? If it's not possible is there an alternative transport to get there at this time?
