Take it easy on the drive up - lots of twisty curves! It's so worth the drive! We took in a short guided tour when we git there - this was well worth it, as our great tour guide Nan blended stories and books with ecological description of the sites. From there, we went on a solo hike. We found... More

Beautiful park, plenty of parking. Great experience if you like to be near nature. Very cold at the day we went.

First time taking my girls (10 and 12) to see the Big Redwood Trees (they have seen the Giant Sequoias) and they loved it as much as when I first saw them as a young girl. Check in with the Park Rangers when you buy your tickets about tours of the trees. We got lucky and tagged in to a... More

We stopped to visit the Big Basin State Park and were so thankful that we did! We landed at SFO, rented a car and headed straight to this park before continuing on our way down the coast. There are several walking trails and you will find yourself taking lots of pictures and being amazed at the size and scale of... More

I'm from the east coast so hiking in this forest was unforgettable. The red woods are amazing and it's not far from the downtown Santa Cruz. Easy to get around and not too technical especially for people from the west coast. Really enjoyed my time

Visited for the day whilst staying in Santa Cruz. Cost around $10 to gain access to park. Lovely sort easy walks. Beautiful forest. The drive was very easy from Santa Cruz

Very good organised nature attraction. See the amazing sequoias, incl. the Mother and the Father of the forest (they might surprise you), some of the wildlife, have a nice walk - various possibilities from a really short to a really long one.

We enjoyed camping here on a rainy weekend. Great trails. We had a beautiful isolated camp site that left us to enjoy the sound of rain on the tent. A perfect getaway.

We drove to the state park on a weekend. It costs 10 dollars to park but there is lots of available parking, some closer to the start of the trails than others. There are variety of trails and they are shown in terms of difficulty and time. There are a few for beginners and we did the easiest one which... More

Spent two days camping in the park. We planned to tent camp, but with rain in the forecast, we were able to secure a tent cabin. They were great, we were dry and the wood stove inside kept us warm. The bed pads were as good as a bed pad can be, but we were camping. We hiked the Sea... More
