Lovely place to visit with a few warnings

This was a great beach to visit. You can pay to access via the main entrance, or you can park for free at the golf course and have access to a much larger and less crowded beach - excellent for kite flying and hiking/exploring!

My husband and I did an overnight tent visit to Camp Miwok on Doran Beach to see if it would be appropriate to bring our children in the future. Our site (H) was beautiful, well shaded, close to the beach, parking, and the restrooms and showers. It comes with a fire pit (half of which was covered with a grill)... More

I went to this beach with my family about 530 one evening. It was absolutely gorgeous. The beach was pretty clean, there was plenty of parking, the bathroom facilities were clean and close by, there are bbq grills that are readily available and it wasn't crowded at all. What more could you ask for?

We vacation here every summer in the campgrounds. The beach is right across a path and so beautiful. There's a cool beach you can get to by walking through a mini cave. You can see seals occasionally. Lots of seashells and sand dollars.

It's a state park so entrance is $10. They have camping. The good is that it is 2 miles of very wide and very clean beach. But that it is really all it is. You can watch the birds, the waves, and catch a tan, but not much else to do. It seemed like a very safe location where kids... More

We took our 4 kids, ages 13 yrs to 19 mos for the day. Only one person was manning the entry booth, and it took about 30 minutes to get up to the window. No joke. Despite the slow entry, this beach was worth the longer drive (central Cal). The beach was plenty long for accommodating lots of people. All... More

Our site was #70, back near the dunes and close to the Coast Guard Station. Camping area was littered with paper, bottle caps and firepit contained beer cans, foil left by prior campers. Showers were closed due to rennovation. Parking pad was asphalt but completely covered with 3-4 inches of sand.

We were playing tourist so didn't go int he water. However those that did seemed to be having a blast in the surf. Wonderful vistas. Too bad they don't invest a little engineering time for the roadside parking. People are doing it bu the 1000s so help them out

There are three areas for overnight camping; the first has three sets of circles with everything from ocean views to harbor views. This is the area where we stayed and found it to be very peaceful and only a 2 minute walk to the beach; the second area is for tents; and the third is out on the point next... More
