Four of us drove out to the beds in my Jeep Compass 4x4 and I'm very glad we took it for the high clearance. Not recommended for regular low slung vehicles! Our hopes were high because of the notoriety this area has received over the...More

We love the Hauser Geode beds. Many acres of BLM land to ride atv's in to several great rock places. We don't find a lot of geodes, but than we aren't into a lot of hard digging. Would rather walk around with eyes peeled on...More

After reading on the web and the gem trails book we own, we were not sure if we could find the geode beds way back off road. We had no problem, just keep to the main used roads. The road from the interstate down to...More

We ended up walking in the last couple of miles, as the rod is pretty rough with large rocks ...hence high clearance ...takes a good 45 minutes to drive all the way back off blacktop... You have to kind of know what you are looking...More

My family used to come out here in the early fifties on rock gathering trips. They used to find lots of large thunder eggs. People are still finding Geodes out here. I went out just to find some of the old places we collected at...More

Good fun. Not a great haul, but excellent first trip out here. Great time of year to do it. Didn't get too hot. Watch out for the flies - they bite! More annoying than painful though ;)

We had some help before we arrived of what to look for. As soon as we stopped we were picking up little geodes off the ground. After a bit of looking we found a nice bed of geodes that were a nice baseball size. In...More

Boy, I doubt it. The road gets really sandy, and has some ruts. We usually park part way in, then use 4 wheelers or side by sides to get to the beds. I have seen quite a few 5th wheels parked by the different washes tho
