Neighbourhood: Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills began as a modest village years ago and today you can still feel its small town origins, even though it has become a major tourist attraction and business center for the entertainment industry. This town lives up to its reputation as an area full of designer retail stores and residential streets lined with mansions and palm trees. Inside the commercial center of Beverly Hills, along Rodeo Drive, droves of tourists peak into ultra-luxurious boutiques hoping to catch a glimpse of someone famous. Off of Rodeo Drive however is where some of the most affluent Angelenos occupying the streets of Beverly Hills come for leisurely meals, power lunches and beauty treatments.

I was attended to by Jordan for the signature facial with La Prairie. This 60 minute treatment with steam extraction will relax and smooth your skin and prime it for the evening out. $252 including gratuity however given the level of relaxation and expert attention, this was worthy of my time and money.
The treatment area is small, as is the prep area with one WC, shower (no jets), sauna and steam. Relaxation area is very small with only upright sitting chairs. In my opinion, the Bell Air is slightly better in terms of facility.

The management at The Beverly Hills Hotel made sure to contact me regarding my last post on the BHH.
They made sure my best friend and I had a total re-do at The Spa and it was exellent. Soon we will book another lunch and that will be taken care of as well.
I frequent this property at least once a week and it felt really good to be a valued client.
The hotel is my home away from home so for me this was the best thing for all of us.
Thank you to all at The Beverly Hills hotel and Spa xxx

This was not my first trip to The Beverly Hills Hotel or their spa. On this particular visit, I did not stay on the property, but I did plan for a day at their spa to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and I made our appointments well ahead of time. To be fair to the therapists who gave us the massages, I have no problem with them. The massages that we had were fine, and the therapists that gave them to us were kind and professional. However, the two women who work at the front desk were rude and nasty, and I am being kind to not use uglier descriptive words.
To further explain the way the spa words, the hotel has a policy that if you are not staying on the property you can use the swimming pool the day of your treatments if the pool is not busy. That is understandable, and on the day of our visit, we had permission to use the pool because there were plenty of lounge chairs available. Before we left to go down to the pool area, the woman at the desk asked that we remove our things from the spa locker room and use the locker room at the swimming pool. She assured me that they had showers and lockers, and she told me that the locker room at the swimming pool had everything that the spa locker room had (i.e. hair dryers, towels, and other ammenities that a 5 star hotel would offer). NOT THE CASE. Yes, the pool locker room had lockers, and we were given keys by the swimming pool attendants. However, when we went to the locker room to shower and change, there were no towels, no hair dryers, and the locker room was filthy. (There was toilet paper and paper towels all over the floor of the bathroom stall.) My daughter and I did the only reasonable thing that we could think of---we went back to the spa to take our showers. When we walked through the door, the woman who had asked us to go down to the pool locker room and another woman who was now at the desk with her, treated us disrepectfully and rudely. They did not apologize for misleading me about the condition of the swimming pool locker room. They treated us like criminals and acted like they were doing us a favor to allow us to take a shower in the spa locker room.
After spending $620.00 on spa treatments and another $190.00 on products, I do not appreciate being treated with such disrespect. This is not The Beverly Hills Hotel that I am accustomed to, and I will no longer give them my business when I am in Los Angeles. There are other 5 star properties in the area that still treat their guests with respect.

My girlfriend and I planned a spa day together amidst our busy schedules. She got a facial and I got a massage. We were surprised that there was NO SPA LOUNGE just two business worn chairs and a carafe of water with cups. There is a bathroom/changing room that is uncomfortable to use if there are other people because of it's tight quarters. This spa was designed for use exclusively by the hotel guests because of it's lack of amenities for the guests.
Our treatments were OK. Not great but we weren't going to complain, because we were there to relax and enjoy the day. We then go to lunch by the pool where we were joined by friends. We had a $250 lunch with starters, salads, and a Wine and Bloody Mary and desert and coffee. We had about 40 minutes after the lunch to relax before we were to go pick up our kids from school. We went to lay on the chairs by the pool. We had our clothes on and we just wanted to relax and enjoy our last free moments of relaxation. No less than 5 minutes after we were on the chairs, the pool manager comes over and tells us we are not allowed to be there if we are not hotel guests. We showed him our $420 bill from the spa and our spa slippers we still had on and said we were guests of the spa. There were literally 10 people at the pool that day. It was a weekday and mid day. He was just trying to upset us. We said we wanted to lay there for maybe 30 minutes before we had to pick up our kids. He walked away and then had a security guard that was at least 6'3 240 lbs stand right at our chairs and say "we are escorting you off the property at this time." We were shocked! This was unreal…we were rattled and shaken and explained that our belongings were still in the spa and we needed to get those. He escorted us to the spa where the spa associate witnessed our disbelief and how upset we were…this was unreal. She quickly gave us a $25 gift certificate and said she is so sorry and will talk to the manager. That is all she could do at the time and will want to have us back for a "redo" day. Since then, it has been exactly a month and I have gotten nowhere with the spa. They have offered us a comped lunch which we will gladly accept, but the real issue was with the spa and the lack of facilities for the guest and the way we were treated because of the lack of facilities you would expect from an establishment like this.
I am hoping that we can get the "redo day" we were promised initially. We did not seek out to complain, but this situation escalated to such a degree that was just downright disrespectful not only on the day in which it happened, but in the customer service follow through. I am an American Express Centurion member and will take it up with Amex too at this point if I can't seem to get this resolved. Really too bad…as a resident in the area, this is not at all what I wouldd have expected from the Beverly HIlls Hotel.

Dear Eric Z,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience at The Beverly Hills Hotel's spa and pool.
I am most disappointed to read this and learn of what transpired during your visit with us. To best ensure hotel guests can be accommodated at the pool, the hotel's policy does not permit non-hotel guests to lounge poolside. But there is absolutely no excuse for this to be communicated in such an off-putting and unwelcoming way, and I am sorry for what transpired. Please know that I will be sure to address this with the appropriate leaders at the hotel to best understand how this could have occurred.
I must also apologize for the lack of follow up from the spa regarding a return visit. This is also unacceptable, and I will make sure that someone from the hotel contacts you directly to revisit the situation.
On behalf of our entire team, I apologize for our shortcomings and hope that we will have the opportunity to provide you with an experience more reflective of The Beverly Hills Hotel.
Best regards,
Edward Mady, Regional Director West Coast USA and General Manager

This review is being left for the Beverly Hills Hotel Spa (only) the hotel it’s self was awesome. The SPA on the other hand was a different story. I booked a couples massage since I would be in town for May 7th - I made the reservation a week before I arrived. Once I arrived, I was reassured that I was still set for my 6:00pm couple massage, as it got closer to 3:00pm I called to confirm that we were still set for the massage at that point I was told, only 1 person would be able to do the massage. I phoned every hour to check on the status of the massage, by 5:00pm I was told they still could only get hold of one person for the massage. By 5:30 I phoned back and was told the spa could only offer 1 massage and not a couple massage that we planned a week before-hand and had confirmation on. By 6:00pm no massage therapist came to my room. I phoned the spa - no one answered, my friend phoned the spa and still no one answered. This treatment was VERY, VERY, VERY DISRESPECTFUL and I am wondering if I would have been shown the same sort of blatant disrespect if I was not African American. The next day, the spa still did not apologize for not calling or showing up to do the service that I reserved a week prior to my arriving. You need to be ashamed of yourself BEVERLY HILLS PLAZA HOTEL AND SPA. You don't treat people that way - well clearly you do, but only people or color apparently. SPA SCORE ZERO
(IF I COULD GIVE IT A NEGATIVE NUMBER I WOULD) SHAMEFUL.....

I just joined Trip Advisor today just to let you all know what happened to me and a very dear friend.
I planned a day of relaxation and rose'... We checked into The Spa at 11am for our treatments. The Spa was the size of two rooms at best. No relaxation area, just a few chairs by the entrance. No quiet room and no where to relax after a very pricey treatment. We headed down to the restaurant down by the pool. We met some friends and had a very pricey lunch. Our clothes, shoes and bags were still in our lockers in the spa - after a long lunch we decided to grab a few lounge chairs by the pool. It was a quiet day, maybe 8 people total by the pool. We sat back and relaxed before heading back to the spa. We sat down, took a deep breath and took in a few minutes of sun. We were rudely spoken to by the pool manger who asked us to leave the pool immediately. He asked if we were checked into the hotel. We replied that we just had two spa treatments, a nice long lunch and had to head out soon for Car pool. He abruptly told us we had 5 minutes and then had to leave the pool immediately. We were in total shock. We felt like criminals. With in minutes security was there standing above our chairs to escort us off the property. Not only were we still checked into the spa we had jus sat down to enjoy the sun. The spa has NO relaxation room or deck. This was a total nightmare. Not only scary but humiliating. I have never been treated with such disrespect and arrogance. I have been a loyal costumer of the BHH since childhood.
Needless to say, this horrific experience has left me shaken and disgusted. I don't recommend booking this spa. This day turned out to be a total NIGHTMARE.

Dear Sjk7470,
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience at the hotel's pool following your visit to the spa.
I am very concerned to learn of what transpired, and apologize for the unpleasant situation you encountered. The hotel's policy is such that only hotel guests may access the pool, but there is no excuse for making you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed when communicating this to you.
The hotel's spa director will be contacting you directly to further discuss this, and please know that it is our sincere hope to restore your faith in The Beverly Hills Hotel.

I booked myself a manicure here as a treat during a family holiday, it’s such an iconic hotel and the spa looked lovely so I couldn’t resist. I was not disappointed!! The service was 1st class, from the reception team that dealt with my enquiries and greeted me to the amazing beautician that carried out the manicure, she was a delight, professional, courteous and provided the best manicure ever!
Thank you so much for making me feel special!

The staff is terrific and they do their best but they need more room to work. The reception desk is in a hallway and guests have to walk in public hallways to get to certain areas. The accommodations are limited so don't expect a lot of space or extras. Prices are higher than comparable resorts and hotels.

We just had the same experience. We spent $420 at the spa and $250 for lunch and were "escorted off the property" by a security officer because we were sitting on the pool chairs before we went to pick up our children. We were rattled and very usably upset. Our whole day of relaxation was ruined. Their spa has NO lounge and is dated and worn. The whole experience was terrible and the worst part is that we have been in email dialogue with them for the past month (the spa manager sees to always be away on vacation) and have yet to have this resolved. We were first offered a redo spa experience and now that was "misunderstanding" by us even though that was discussed with us and emailed. As a local who likes to go to the spas with my girlfriends on special occasions, this was a sad awakening to us.

The pool is open for lunch, cocktails, even a soda, the special pool lounges are for the room guests and are assigned. i use the spa, and also eat at the coffee shop and the polo lounge for 50yrs, when i want to use the pool or sunbathe i check in and pay for a room. because of the popularity and privacy of the room guests the hotel has limited lounges and setting for the pool itself, the restaurant provides tables, booths , for cocktails and lunch for everyone who wishes to patronize the pool restaurant. this is my understanding and i follow the hotel procedure and find it fair and enjoyable.
