I came to Berkeley for grad school in 1968 and became friendly with a group of folks also studying at Cal. Therefore, I learned quickly about the recreational activities here that were meant for low income folks--like students. Tilden has everything--boundless hiking trails, bicycling trails,...More

When I'm visiting Oakland/Berkeley my friends an I go hiking often. Tilden Regional Park is a great choice. The trails are fairly accessible for most people, the views are great.

It is not a place for special trip if you are visiting from out of town though this a good place for relaxed outings on the weekends for local Bay Area families. You need your own transportation to go to different attractions for children. Preschoolers...More

Tilden Park is beautiful, and there are many great hikes in the park. Inspriation Point trail has an asphalt path and both bicycles and walkers can use it. The views are fantastic.

Berkeley Hills. Miles of scenic driving, hiking. A place for kids at the little Farm, Carousel, Lake Anza. Golf course, botanical gardens. The best of Berkeley!

Little farm is the best! Bring celery and lettuce to feed the goats. A great way to make you smile, no matter what your age. Went with my 22 year old daughter to walk down memory lane of her childhood visits - we loved it.

There are mountain lions here. If you are one in a million, you might see one. Nice hikes and water elements. Not as beautiful as the Peninsula hikes but it’s the best that is available in the east bay. We prefer other areas just a...More

An easy, scenic hike with beautiful views at the top. We did this with our son and daughter-in-law who are in their early 30's and we're in our sixties - worked out well!
