Be sure to check out the conservatory (for tropical plants) and the Chinese medicinal herb garden. The garden is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. every day of the year except the first Tuesday of each month, Thanksgiving Day, December 24 and 25, December 31, January 1, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tours are also available on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The highlight of the Cal campus--not to be missed and a wonderful outing for families. I've been here a number of times and it's rarely crowded; a peaceful oasis in the middle of town.

Clearly the garden has been affected by the drought and so we were a bit let down. Even so, the small redwood section is worth a visit.

The day was so hot that I only lasted about 20 minutes. It's very hilly, too. I really didn't enjoy being there but might feel different if I went on a cool day.
