Be sure to check out the conservatory (for tropical plants) and the Chinese medicinal herb garden. The garden is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. every day of the year except the first Tuesday of each month, Thanksgiving Day, December 24 and 25, December 31, January 1, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A Wonderful Botanic Garden located above the UC Berkeley campus. There is a redwood grove that is part of the garden, entrance across the street. You need a code (on your ticket) to enter.

Came here during the day after we dropped our Freshman son to UC Berkeley orientation. Loved the cactus section and the smell of California Bay trees. My 6-year old was our group "professor" and enjoyed teaching us the different plant types and exploring the grounds....More

I've been coming to the area for years and had never stopped here. Had some time to kill and they accepted my ROAM card. It is a pleasant place to walk around and spend a few hours

No shortage of plants to see, and if you can visit during different seasons, you get a good sense of what horticulturists and botanists have to work with. We enjoy the "Chinese" medicinal/herbal area, the multiple desert/arid sections, the rose garden, bamboo area and the...More

Outdoor botanical garden integrates species from around the world into a seemingly natural ecology. Don't think you would rather "see this" than "see that" because all is a wonder and revelation. Enjoy your walk!
