I did a day trip to Popayan from Cali, Columbia to visit the churches and museum located at the historic center. After asking for directions, I finally located it, only to find out that it was closed and would be opened around 4-5 p.m. I said my prayers and took pictures of its facades before leaving.

This was my favorite of the several churches we went into. It's nicely decorated inside and the facade is interesting. Nice little plaza in front.

The church is generally open during prayer time. It is a nice colonial church with a rather decorated east side. Worth a visit.

Popayan is known for it's churches and religious celebrations, so a tour of the churches is a must and this is one you shouldn't miss. It's a little different from all the rest, a bit more modern and simple but still with plenty of 'wow'.

American Catholics might be surprised by the relative absence of baroque ornamentation in this church, a feature even more pronounced in the town's Cathedral a few blocks away on Parque Caldas. Both are unexpectedly severe designs, right down to the unpadded and immovable kneelers, and all the more suited to quiet contemplation as a result.

It is the largest colonial church is the city and very worth a visit. If you have a chance to go inside please do, it is great especially high altar and 7 side altarpieces. It is on the corner of Cra 9th and Cll 4th. It was restored after the 1983 earthquake.
