Interesting to visit especially since the real caves only allow a few people during the year. But although the museum is fine and informative, the re-created caves and paintings leave me with a strange feeling (not real= fake). So maybe visit some lesser known caves...More

This was a regular haunt for us to visit in the 80's when we lived there. It now has a great visitor centre and to stand where people lived 50,000 years ago is amazing. The paintings on the walls are un-believable.

I want to comment on the ticket sale system of this museum which is very inefficient and user unfriendly. Basically one can buy a ticket for the museum in advance only if he/she is a santander bank account holder. In that case tickets can be...More

The caves of Altamira have been closed to the public since the great amount of visitors caused deterioration of the drawings. Now you can see replicas of the drawings. The museo de Altamira shows very good replicas of the drawings in a great setting. You...More

Very good exhibition. Most of it free, just the cave restoration is 3 euro each and requires registration You could skip it if you cannot make the cave and just see the rest

If we had known when joining the queue that it would take 2 hours to get to the front of the line to just buy tickets, and that we would then have to wait a further hour and a half to then be actually allowed...More

Visited with our children aged 7 and 9 on a Monday in August. Queued outside in the rain for nearly an hour for tickets at 11:30. We were given an entry time to the caves of 2:30, so we had lunch in the cafe which...More
