Beautiful town, nicely renovated. A nice example of a medieval village in norther Spain. Is sure worth a visit.

Not a major plaza with not much to see or do in the area. Does not require much time to see the quaint city. El Pasaje de los Nobles was an excellent place to eat nearby.

Plaza Mayor is the main square at Santillana del Mar. The Town Hall and the other old but preserved buildings give you the chance to travel in time. It was nice to see many people chilling, passing by and even St. James pilgrims on their Way.

It was Easter when we visited so probably busier than usual. We visited early around 10am and a good few people were starting to arrive by the time we were leaving maybe an hour or so later. We parked for €2 just along the road into the town. There is also a car park at the tourist information centre and... More

They were practicing for an upcoming fiesta and it was great to watch. Cobblestone street leading up to it, interesting to see people walking on cobbles in very high heel shoes.

Very popular with visitors so expect it to get a bit crowded. At night it is fine and well-lit, so a good time to visit.

This is a lovey square with many interesting dwellings surrounding it. The Collegiate Church of Santillana del Mar, to my opinion, stands out by its hugeness and its beauty. This is the place where most tourists end up at. By the way, this is the biggest square in town. Nearby are leather wares and even dresses. The atmosphere here is... More

We are visiting during the low season.....no crowds at all. The only large group we saw was a small group of students who were on a field trip. We were able to get a real feeling of the town and the main square, with all of the stone buildings and streets surrounding it. Wonderful!

A nice place to stop for an hour or two to discover what rural Spain would have been like in Medieval times. Plenty of old buildings, restaurants and souvenirs (if you want them)
