(€5, €3 if you qualify for senior discount) It explains how the first Governor (?) of Greece held it all together as a country and started a college of agriculture, started public education for kids, started the independent financial system, etc. Kind of Washington/Jefferson/ Hamilton all rolled into one. (Note: show your vaccine card upon entering… here and all museums, long distance buses, hotels in Greece)Visited April 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 April 2022
- permia40,479 contributionsInteresting assemblageA selection of Greek costumes we found to be one of the most absorbing themes. Elaborate and colourful they reflect the attention and pride taken in their creation and display. Over a couple of floors many aspects of everyday life from differing areas are shown. Living and dining rooms plus kitchen wares are here. Lives of children aren’t neglected. Toys are plentiful; rocking horses and soft playthings are abundant. Cloth making, a central part of life, is exemplified with weavers and looms.Visited February 2020Written 11 April 2020
- MN_WalkersMinneapolis, Minnesota550 contributionsA pleasant museum about Greek lifeInteresting, little museum showing slices of Greek life - clothing, furniture, toys, household items. Exhibits also address spinning and weaving. We probably spent about 45 minutes inside. There is a substantial gift shop adjacent.Visited October 2021Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 October 2021

Apart from the buildings, there were also people living in Nafplio through the ages. This museum provides a glimpse into their culture and customs. Definitely recommend!

This museum is located in the old city centre. The building and also the interior has been modernized up to a great standard. The three floors of exhibited items are showed in a clear and beautiful way. The are a lot of clothing to be seen and items for daily use. For us this is a hidden gem. The very friendly staff informed us about the other museum which displays childhood items. This came as a package deal. It is located at the former train station area. About a 5 minute walk. I couldn’t resist to take a picture of the toilet area. Saloon doors I haven’t seen on my trips through Greece before.

A fantastic museum tracing selected origins of Greek culture throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th century. The museum shop alone is worth the visit!

Got to see different costumes from the area, of course only wealthy people, as the clothes from poor people were worn until it “broke” or were remade or used as patches.
Learned more about Nafplio and it’s interesting history.

The antique and modern clothes are great, but even more interesting was an exhibit of some of Nafplio's early movers and shakers, including a woman who was a leading anti-monarchist and sounded fascinating.
I was super-pleased there is a small elevator for the disabled as I have a cane and so many stairs are not do-able for me. And the staff in the museum and gift shop were both very nice and pleasant. The museum was open on Tuesday which I was also happy about.
The gift shop has really nice stuff and is a good place to pick up small mementos. I got some herbs and candy and a scarf for friends, and a beautiful fabric bracelet for myself.
