This half kilometre stretch of beach is clean and nice to visit. The water is calm (most the time, despite the wind!) and there are some nice taverners just beside the beach if you get hungry! Between them they do breakfast lunch and dinner.

I remember it fondly 30 years ago. There was one rustic taverna with a couple of rooms. No sun beds just unspoiled golden sand with nudist areas on the east. A lovely walk from undeveloped plakias with hosts of butterflies on the way. Oh tourism!
Drove to Damnoni beach from Rethymnon a few days ago. The drive was interesting and we stopped at a layby to admire the view of the gorge. Didn't stay out of the car for long though as it was very windy.
