We reached orchha about 5 p.m. and visited Chaturbhuj Temple so it was closed. There is palace, temples and more inside fort but we have to satisfy with outer photography only. Mind well to visit before 5... More

Interesting palace to visit while travelling from Jhansi to Khajuraho. It took 22 years to build this palace and has only been used for one day. When we were here there were not a lot of visitors, so this is a quiet place . Well preserved and worth the visit.

24 July, 2016. The Orchha fort is a generic name given to a group of buildings around the Betwa river in the small town of Orchha in the state of Madhya Pradesh. We paid a visit there, staying at the close-by Betwa Retreat. The impressive complex has thankfully not been affected much by the ravages of time, possibly thanks to... More

The battlements of the fort are well decorated... More

Loved the palace within this fort. Some of the best murals and well preserved artwork adorning the walls and roof. Called the 1 night stay as it took 22 years to build and the Mughal only spent 1 night in it. The place is a bit out of the way but sits on an island thus having a natural moat.... More
