    Prepare to be mesmerized
Indeed the reviews here are correct and this museum must be one of the best and certainly the most unique in the world. Worth visiting Bhopal just for this. The exhibit halls took us much less time than expected and the visit was short n sweet. You can use camera (without paying) only in the last room which is about children's games. Even so, charges for camera use are very low. The shop at the entrance (Chinhari) has such wonderful stuff, except mostly it's breakable or hard to carry. Do visit the first floor and buy some traditional paintings too. That happens to be one of my biggest regrets from the trip, the biggest achievement being the wonderful things (mud crafts, sari, metal crafts) I managed to bring back. Wanted to re-visit just the shop on the Monday after our Sunday visit, but unfortunately the museum is closed on Monday. Plan well. Request to MP Tribal Museum - please add more handicrafts, smaller ones, easier to carry, and more useful items such as keychains and magnets. It's a pity that the state is famous for so many crafts, but so poor at showcasing. That is a different rant altogether, but please house more amazing traditional crafts by MP tribes at this shop.

A new way of story telling
Excellent displays. The museum has re-invented the experience of visiting a museum and makes it more fun for adults and kids alike. Each part of the museum is colourful, vibrant and so aesthetically done, while introducing us to the lives of various tribes in the region, and their practices, architecture, arts, crafts etc. Opens late till 8 pm. Has a restaurant within the site-complex. Parking is available. Photography charges apply.

    Eye pleasing art
It's a beautiful place and I was very pleasantly surprised. Well maintained except for the washrooms which have been more because of the public. The tickets are reasonably priced. The treasure is amazing and the paintings and artwork are so intrinsic. Minimum takes an hour. The canteen has got a variety of options which again is not expensive. Must visit if you are in Bhopal. Plenty of parking available. You will get tired taking pictures as they are so marvelous. And you definitely don't want to miss it.

The Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum is a place for all Museum lovers and is one of a kind. Being in Bhopal for 3 days, this was one of the top recommendations from all the travel portals. But the museum truly lives up to its expectations.

The museum shows the actual life of all the various tribes in and around Madhya Pradesh, such as the Bhil Tribe, Gond Tribe, Baiga Tribe, etc. However, the exciting part is that all the structures are created in life-sized models. For instance, the houses of each of the tribes are in life-sized models, and you can step inside each of the huts. Inside the huts too, all the objects, such as the utensils, etc., are kept in perfect order and are of actual sizes.

Once you keep moving inside the museum, it also covers the various architecture and customs related to the tribes. For instance, in one area, a huge bangle is installed with miniature statues of animals and plants. The information board states this is prepared and given to the brides post-marriage. It is a symbol of auspiciousness and prosperity.

One side of the museum also deeply covers the places of worship of the various tribes. This includes the various deities that each of them worships. The best part about every structure is that it has a proper information board that signifies the importance of the structure to each of the visitors, providing even more depth into the lives of the tribes. There are also various tools and handmade instruments kept inside for display. The transition parts between different areas show information about the occupational work the tribes are involved in, including pottery, farming, etc.

The museum takes 2-3 hours to visit each structure properly from the inside. But if you love museums, this one will definitely be unforgettable and is a must-visit when on a tour to Bhopal. Also, special kudos to the curators and the staff for maintaining the museum exceptionally well.

Right next door to the poorly cared for state museum, this is a must see for all visitors to Bhopal. Walk through the impressive entrance and prepared to be wowed. So much work and effort has gone into presenting the individual characteristics of tribes indigenous to the state. Recreations of village home life, beautiful representations of creation and other stories- truly wonderful. A little more lighting in some areas would have allowed closer examination of some exhibits. However, the explanations in Hindi and English were excellent. A huge space that flows well and easily accommodates a large number of people. And the food they serve in their comfortable eating area complements the village feel. This is the kind of museum you can easily revisit.
