Have been cycling past the Moti Masjib for the last three months. Today a cycling colleague recommended a visit to Moti Masjid as it was a must see place. Frankly the Masjid is beautiful. Small in size, it resembles the Jama Masjid of Delhi. Built by Sikander Begum in 1860, it is an important historical landmark in Bhopal. Located at Peer Gate, the red stone and marble mosque is unique. It has two dark red towers with golden spikes and the mosque proper has a sparkling white facade hence the term ' Moti Masjid' or the ' Pearl Mosque'.

I went to Moti Masjid. The Moti Masjid features a white marble facade with two small cupolas on the top. The two dark red towers on either side of the primary structure of the mosque are equally beautiful and fascinating. It is great place to go.

About Moti Masjid
The Moti Masjid was built in the year 1860 by one of the foremost women monarchs of Bhopal – Sikander Begum, daughter of the brave Qudsia Begum who took the throne after her husband’s assassination. Sikander Begum built many roads, elegant monuments, bridges and more, one of the finest examples being the Moti Masjid, which translates to ‘the pearl mosque.’ The name befits the building due to its shimmering white façade. The architecture of the Moti Masjid is very similar to that of the Jama Masjid in Delhi, although it is relatively smaller in size. The Moti Masjid is flanked by two beautiful dark red towers or cupolas with golden spikes. The entire building is made of dark red bricks, with white marble mounted upon the front façade.
