About Explore Hampi - Day Tours
Hampi is one of the most beautiful and evocative of all historical sites in south India. It was established as the seat of the Vijayanagara Empire in the mid 14th century, a time when art and architecture flourished. The city was conquered by Sultanate troops in CE 1565, pillaged for six months, and abandoned. People however continued to live in the region and worship continued in few temples. The sprawling heritage site encompasses several village settlements; the presence of these human settlements makes Hampi a living heritage site. We believe that people living in these settlements are an essential part of the site and therefore anything and everything rooted by local communities add to the cultural significance of the place. Explore Hampi is an attempt at building a tourism venture that makes locals stakeholders in its responsible development. We want to promote Hampi as a living heritage site; showcase the unique culture and beauty of the region along with the ruins of Hampi.

I can't imagine how my husband and I, avid senior citizen travellers in India and abroad could have missed this amazing trip for so many years. To see with our own eyes the magnificence and architectural splendor of the Vijayanagar Kingdom which we've only read or seen through books was an unforgettable experience. We chanced upon a very good guide Veerpaksha cell 7090441996. And he took us in 2 days to all the main spots of Hampi and across the river Tungabhadra where Hanuman was born and Ram and Laxman rested there. It would be best to combine Hampi with a overnight visit to Badami and Aihole. We did this as a day trip which was exhausting as though just 130 kms away it takes 3.5 hrs to reach. In Hampi we stayed at Hotel Heritage Resort, a lovely hotel, with smiling staff and good food, excellent service and peaceful ambience .A special mention must be made of the Manager Ms Sathya who was always ready to help with a warm smile.

We visited Hampi in the month of December and toured this amazing place with Basava as our guide. It was very well organised and he kind of recreated the old Hampi for us. Keep up with the good work Basava.

We visited Hampi for the first time last month (November) and all I can say is that it exceeded our expectations of a good trip. The ruins and monuments are breathtakingly beautiful but what made it so enjoyable and memorable was a good guide. Hussen was referred to by our hotel and we are thankful to them. He chalked out an itinerary for us that included every element, right from the most popular to the adventurous walking trail along the Tungabhadra to the probably a little less touristy sites. We found him knowledgeable, pleasant and patient. And we would highly recommend him.

This was the most amazing trip I have ever been on! Hampi is a terrific place with fascinating history, striking natural scenery and rich mythological heritage. Thanks to Exploring Hampi, I was able to immerse myself fully in all of that. Every bit of their arrangements was carefully done to ensure my comfort and engagement. Their guide, Mr Hampi Basava was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The resort where they put me up was beautiful and the staff were very nice. The car was comfortable with a very friendly driver, Mr Ranganathan. I had the greatest time on the trip.

Except for the car and driver that was provided by them everything else was very disappointing! They provided us with a guide for only one day instead of two full days at Hampi. The guide Mr Basava seemed to be in a hurry to leave before 6 pm on the first day and did not turn up on the 3 rd day at all. On the 3 rd day a young boy was sent to accompany me upto Matanga Hill whom I did not even know, ( he did a good job) but it was Basava’s duty to be present there! Rest of the day the driver was asked to do the guide’s job ! Why????And all this after we paid the full amount they had asked for much before reaching Hampi!Very very disappointing indeed, will never recommend this tour agent to any one!!!
