The largest monolith statue (22 feet) is that of Lakshmi Narasimha that lies in the southern temples at the base of Hemakuta Hill. The statue of Lakshmi that sits in his lap was lost to raiders during the fall of Vijaynagara but you can still see traces of her. It is also referred to as Ugra Narasimha due to his facial expression. The statue has been reinforced to keep it standing and you are not allowed to enter the enclosure but can only see it from a distance.

The temple has a monolithic Sculpture of fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu with a height of 6.7 metres. The sculpture looks quite marvelous. It is slightly damaged. This temple is adjacent to Badavilinga Temple.

One can visit this statue on the way to Virupaksha temple. Its worth a visit. Well preserved (though there are damages and not intact). But worth spending some quality time observing the creation in details.

Ugra narsingh statue, as the name suggests in of Lord Narsimha, fourth incarnation of Vishnu. It is a beautiful statue. It was burnt and broken by muslim invaders. I hope it is rebuilt and the worship starts once again at the same place. Must visit.

Do notice the sound of water around this structure because there is underground connection of the linga with Narsimha statue. It is a beautiful architecture parts of which are destroyed. Shiva linga is gigantic with water filled at base.

The statue is the main feature of the Lakshmi Narashmiha temple just to the south of the main group of monuments of Hampi. The sculpture depicts a very angry looking Narsimha, the half lion avatar of Vishnu.

The sculpture is worth a look just for the shocking impact it’ll have on first impressions.

The statue of Ugra Narasimha at Hampi is one of the most iconic idols of Hampi. It is also one of the biggest monolithic idols of Hampi and is 6.7 metres tall. It is one of the finest examples of sculptures of the Vijayanagara Kingdom.

The idol of Narasimha represents the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his body is half human and half lion. He is seated on the coils of the sacred guardian snake with its seven hoods acting as a protective canopy covering his head. The statue has been severely damaged and its four arms are broken. The seated figure of his consort Lakshmi is also missing.

The statue was carved by a priest during the reign of Krishnadevaraya in 1528 AD.

It's just one (mono) rock that has been carved to look the way it does. In a time that had no technology, to get the proportions right and the details of the design is just amazing. I didn't expect to be in awe of it. And it's stood the test of time to show the craftsmanship of the people back then. Simply wonderful!

At a height of 6.7 m , it is one of the most stunning examples of Vijayanagara architecture. Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Vishnu is seated on the giant coils of Adishesha, the guardian snake. The seven hoods of the snake act as a canopy arched by a Kirtimukha Torana in front. The four arms of the statue and the roof have been broken by Islamic invaders. Also missing is the seated figure of Lakshmi on the left lap of Narasimha. At first glance, the image appears to be that of an angry God, which gives it the misnomer of Ugra Narasimha. The monolith is dated to 1528 CE
