The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) is responsible for preserving and promoting Tibet’s unique tradition of performing arts. After the Chinese occupation, His Holiness, the Dalai Lama felt it was important to safeguard the traditional performing arts of Tibet so that they are not lost forever. A meaningful place for Tibetan culture and traditional performing arts such as dance, music, and opera. People here are very nice for introducing us all about these patiently. Apart from the performances, the institute also has a research section that is responsible for documenting and archiving the literature, picture, audio as well as visual components of Tibetan Operatic culture, dance and music. …

The tour is incomplete if this is not included.. a must see place , so beautiful & colourful are the Golden Buddha , the paintings, the dolls museum , set in lush green trees that it is a feast for the eyes. The entrance fee is just Rs.50. One can spend about 2 hours here learning about the Tibetan culture. There is a shop to buy their paintings, bags & jewellery but on the high end.…

Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Dharamsala as an awersome creature to know and learn the tibetan history, culture and Arts. A Rich Diversity of Tibet and a much visit and learning place. Must visit..

This is one place where one can see how tibetans reinforce the rich culture and tradition of tibet to the youngsters. They are taught language, drawing, music, instruments, dance and martial arts which are later performed worldwide to spread the message of peace.
