We have just returned from a 5 day - 4 night hike of Mount Kenya's Chogoria / Sirimon route with gotomountkenya.com. Even before we got there Evans was always on hand to answer all of my questions, some incredibly banal. Ascending via the Chogoria route...More

We booked a 4-day trekking via Naro Moru on the way up and Chigoria on the way down with gotomountkenya.com. Evans provided us with plenty of details in advance and answered a thousand and one questions before the trip, super helpful. We also decided at...More

If you've done Kili, Tubkal etc.in Africa then I would definitely recommend doing Mount Kenya. The trekking peak is 4985m and I would suggest you do it over three days to allow some acclimatisation before attempting the summit. The views weren't great due to the...More

Since we were with an elder person, the guide decided to walk from the entrance gate to the first camp. This is a 9km walk on paved road. It's all uphill and there are some steep parts. The guide was very friendly and he brought...More

the title is maybe a bit extreme but i think it also highlights the major advantage of mount Kenya; namely that it is still truly wild and spectacular. i have done kili and do believe that i can make this judgement. we (family of 3)...More

This is a hiking experience to top all hikes but careful preparation and engaging a good quality guide is a must. Ben Njoroge is arguably the most respected guide on the mountain and his supporting team is excellent. He operates independently, has climbed the three...More

To be honest I was not planning to trek the mountain and hence I have rated it the way I have. Just to see the mountain from our room at the hotel was not what I was looking forward to. So I would not recommend...More

2 friends and I trekked Mount Kenya via the Sirimon-Chigoria route (5 days) and would 100% recommend doing so with gotomountkenya.com. As a group we are by no means extremely fit and whilst we found the trek challenging (mainly due to the altitude) it is...More

HI! Not too steep or precarious. It is certainly not easy, especialy at that altitude, but it does not seem dangerous. The last bit is tougher then the rest, but it has a metel wire to help up the steep bits. I have a slight... More

It depends where you are starting (entering the park). From Sirimon it is recommended that you summit the earliest on the second morning (so have slept two nights and walked two days inside the park) due to the... More

You can also easily find buses and vans that go regularly from downtown Nairobi with stops along the way for much cheaper. Ask people when you get there and they will all know where to direct you.
