こちらは神居古潭駅からサイクリングロードを深川方面にサイクリングロードを200mほど（蒸気機関車を左手に見て）にあるトンネルです。
トンネルの中は涼しい風か流れており反対岸の吊り橋がとても綺麗にみえました。

難工事だったトンネルで、琵琶湖疏水の技術者も従事され完成されたトンネルです。良く見ると琵琶湖疏水と同じ煉瓦積みで歴史を感じます。森の中を散策できるので気持ちよかったです。

このトンネル群は、かつての函館本線線路跡をサイクリングロードに整備した途上にあります。但し、2010年頃に災害で通行止めになって以来、長らく通行止めの状態が続いていて、2018年9月に再訪しましたが、まだ通行止めの状態でした。私はかつて2009年にここをサイクリングで通り抜けたことがあるのですが、トンネル群の風情や自然景観が素晴らしくて、とても美しいサイクリングロードとして整備されていましたので、一日も早く復旧してくれればなあと願っています…。

石狩川が旭川盆地から出る銚子口にある淵が神居古潭。
その脇を走っていた国鉄時代の鉄道トンネル群です。
国鉄の北海道三大名景勝地の一つでした。
紅葉の頃と新緑がきれいだと思います。
ここに行くには神居古潭を橋で渡りますが雪解けの頃は水量も多く迫力があります。

石狩川が旭川盆地から深川へ向かって流れ出る大きな淵「神居古潭」沿いの
国鉄時代の鉄道トンネルだそうです。（←相方の受け売り）
旧神居古潭駅駅舎から歩いていけます。
両側に山が迫り、下には岩に狭められた石狩川が重く渦巻いています。
初夏の新緑の頃の散歩にいいかな。
