The main hall is located at the very back of Zuiganji Temple. We arrived at the main hall after walking down a corridor that continued from a building called the kuri.
The paintings on the sliding doors of the main hall were particularly spectacular. The lord's room, known as the "Jodo-no-ma," was a spectacular setting. There was a garden at the back of the main hall, and photography was allowed in this garden, but photography was not allowed inside the main hall, kuri, or Seiryuuden, as most of the areas at Zuiganji Temple are paid areas.

Very impressive and its grounds are immaculately kept. It was not badly damaged by the 2011 tsunami, but many of its cedar trees died from salt water.. the temple is well preserved.

Zuiganji Temple is one of the highlights of sightseeing in Matsushima. The main hall, a national treasure, is especially worth a visit. If you pay the admission fee, you can visit the museum, as well as the inside of the temple and other areas. You can't take photos inside the temple, but you can take photos of the entire temple from the garden outside.
