Walking through this amazing landscape you can't help but wonder about the life of the people that lived here all those years ago. We walked through the beautiful siq to the Treasury which was amazing but it was even more amazing to discover how much more there is after this. The Great Temple and Monastery are also highlights. I would... More

Petra is just beautiful! I was nervous crossing the boarder on foot from Isreal and catching a taxi for a two hour ride. Were so glad we did! This is a major revenue stream for Jordan so they're going to keep their visitors safe. We never felt threatened... We caught a night event where we walked in about a mile... More

Can be very tough to get to, paid 320 USD for just 3.5 hours in this place (one day trip) but it was worth it. In hindsight would stay for a night near so I can explore this place again.

A must see for every traveller and worthy of its World Heritage status. Stamina required for the long trips to the top but worth it.

This is absolutely the most beautifully preserved, interesting, and diverse historical site I have seen in my life. I walked through the site for 11 hours and still didn't see everything and never got tired of looking at stuff. First, if you've hired a tour company, make sure that you are at the main Petra site and not little Petra,... More

We had a guide to show us around and give us the history of the place. It is a fascinating place to visit as it is so different to anything else I have ever seen. There are various ruins and facades carved into the rock face along with the caves previously inhabited by locals. Add to this the camels and... More

It was very interesting to see how 4 different and great civilizations had perceived the engineering and building skills. The older the more difficult construction performed.

Some tips for Petra.... Close toed shoes, LOTS of water - I had to buy more inside - a hat, plenty of sunscreen and some to reapply part way through the day. If you're only going for one day, be prepared to HIKE. I walked 13 miles in about 5 hours. The hike up to the monastery is completely worth... More

Petra is an amazing place to visit. You can read about or see photos of the site, so what follows are what we feel will help get the best from it. Purchase a Jordan Pass, suggest a 2 day pass, as it covers entry visa to Jordan and two day entries to Petra, those alone covered its cost. Hire a... More
