Hemmed in by varying sandstone, the light changes the colours and the sand appears at time to melt. Beware the horse n buggies who drive too fast!

The walk from the entrance to Petra to the beginning of the Siq is long and dusty but you can visit some tombs along the way. However, as you enter the Siq you entered another world. The mountain sides shift colors, the sun is no longer visible, I took pleasure in walking on ancient pavement, and as I admired the... More

The walk into Petra is downhill. It's beautiful and protected. There are a couple of toilets along the way. So many cool photos were taken here...

From the crowded, horse-smelly bridge, the path drops sharply down over the lip of the dam into Petra’s most dramatic and awe-inspiring natural feature and fault in the mountain and principal entrance into the city, yet invisible until you’re almost upon it.

An amazing walk through the crevices and rock formations gives way to the beautiful stone cave palace-like building. It is a sight to behold, well worth the walk. People trying to sell things/camel rides are extremely annoying, you have to bite your lip!

We were surprised by just how grand this, often very narrow gorge really is. And the frequent surprise sights on the way are a real reward for the effort

the siq is a winding route bordered with canyons on both sides. siq winds between massive red canyons which seem to change colour with change in sun's position. the siq leads you from petra entrance all the way to the treasury. it is about 2 miles long. while i feel the walk is best enjoyed on foot, if you are... The siq is incredible. The multihued stone which changes colour in the light, the abundance of carvings and points of interest on the way make this an experience in itself. We travelled with our children aged 5 and 10. We managed with a small lightweight stroller when the younger one got tired. Some short stretches required us to pick up... More

I walk the Siq both at night and during the day, i prefer night time even though it is a cool place to take refuge after a long day under the blazing sun.
