The downhill walk is quite interesting but be careful of horse carts. The return is more strenuous as it's uphill all the way. Do wear comfortable footwear and carry water. Take it easy and you'll be rewarded with interesting sights on either side

Downhill but angle is not to bad. Beware of horse carts bring people down if you walk. The narrow gorge is the gateway into Petra. Two water channels run along both sides of the gorge. Beautiful nature colors, portion of Roman road and sacred stones....More

Very beautiful. But the smell of the horses droppings is offensive. Why aren't they required to collect their droppings?

Siq is where it all begins. Literally the gateway to another world. And when it opens up to the view of the treasury, that sight is just out of the world.History lives here. Water channels can be seen on either sides. It's a long walk...More

It’s a gorgeous, beautiful, and breathtaking. My only problem with it was the extremely rude horse carriage men and the overwhelming smell of horse poop. Amazing but marred by some serious flaws.

If you like canyons, this one should definitely be included to your must-visit list. There are quite narrow places, wide openings, nice carvings, and amazing plants. But be careful since carts and horses ride back and forth.

The Siq is worth taking slowly and observing the carvings and other elements as you walk down. It is not just the route down to the Treasury and is worth either having a guide or reading a guidebook as there is a lot of interest...More

There is so much to see in Petra that you need a full day in there to take it all in. The different colours of the rocks around the place are a spectacle in itself.

The "way in" to Petra is through the Siq -- a long, narrow, winding passageway (over 1 km) with 100-meter tall walls on each side, leading to the city. At the end of the Siq, you'll get your first glimpse of the Treasury building: get...More

You won't need to be an experienced horse rider because the locals will either walk the horse or ride alongside you. Be careful to very clearly negotiate a price for the ride AND for the tip before you start because some... More
