Absolutely incredible place would highly recommend to anyone going to Bucharest with a day in their schedule free.

It takes around 2 hours to get there on public transport and it is 100% worth it.

Entering the mine will take your breath away

Awe inspiring place to visit and really interesting. Its just spectacular as you walk in. I think there are some more things they could do with the place, and I would say a safety brief on the mini-bus drive in would be useful. The (seemingly) single entry/exit route could be a concern. But otherwise, really worth visiting.

What an extraordinary experience. Words cannot describe the enormity and vibe of the the salt mine. It is breathtaking in colour, size, the clean COOL air and variety of areas to sit and relax or play games. You queue in line after purchasing tickets and a minivan transports you DOWN under the surface for a rejuvenating experience. The wait was no more than 10 minutes and you stand under a covered awning. I arrived just after 11 am on a weekday and while not crowded there were many people there. I highly recommend the experience. I should point-out that I did not book a tour rather this was a stop using a private car service from one city to another.

The mine is very big and well maintained. It was a very beautiful experience. Inside, there are playgrounds for children and a planetarium too, a place where short films about the outer space are projected each 30 minutes, but you need to pay sepparately for that.
The access inside the mine is done by minibuses.

Booking the previous day evening but lucky to get one spot, and fast response from organization to agree on pickup location. Then, smooth organization, really helpful explanations, and allowing some flexibility during the tour to accomodate all customers requests the best they can. On the way back, possible to change drop off... even at airport to take flight at 6pm!!!! Anyway, great thing to do whatever the weather!! Cheers

We first tried to go on a Sunday, but the lines and parking were ridiculous, so, we returned on a Wednesday and had a great visit. There’s a small fee to park (3 lei) and in the parking lot there are a few tourist stands (2 with salt and few mixed tourist things). The mine is basically in the city right across from a restaurant.

After you pay the entrance fee you wait to board a shuttle bus. The ride is about 4 minutes above ground and 10 minutes descending a bumpy, hairpin turn salt road down into the mine. My son gets carsick but did okay just wearing sea bands.

The mine itself has enormous vaulted ceilings and an collection of kids activities (mini-golf, bouncy houses, bikes, pool, ping-pong, planetarium). There’s lots of tables if you want to picnic. The platform that surrounds the top edge is not for visiting.

Compared to the Turda Salt Mine, this one is much bigger and the entrance is more adventurous. The Turda mine has a bigger salt water lake and allows you to walk the platform on the top edge of the mine (which is honestly a little scary).

There are lots of signs saying to wear a mask and although mask wearing seemed to be enforced in the shuttle bus it wasn’t really in the mine itself.

The salt mine Slanic is the largest in Europe and the place with the purest air on the planet.

The 14 rooms of the saline have an opening of 10 meters to the ceiling, 32 meters to the sole, and the height is 54 meters. The saline depth is 208 meters. The saline walk takes about 2 hours, during which time you can enjoy the benefits of the saline environment.
Also in the saline are playgrounds with slides, swings, sports fields, volleyball, handball, tennis, carting and minifootball, a room with billiard tables and a buffet. Often, the Unirea mine organizes various sports competitions, contests, exhibitions and concerts.
