Best thing to do in Ancud. So go there. Nicely maintained- kind of small- but nice. Nothing absolutely impressive. Thousands of more impressive fortresses. But as your there you should def. See the ruins, take pictures and have a nice walk.

The forest is located in the end of the main street near the coast. It's 10 minuets of walking from the center. The entrance is free and you can read in Spanish about the history. You can see a good view from the castle when listening the waves. It was so calm so I closed my eyes and relaxed on the grass. The castle is small, if you don't sit down it may take 5 minuets of visiting.

This is such an important place to visit because an important part of Chile's history happened here and you don't read that on books.

There is a nice view of the bay from the fort. The fort is not very exciting but if you happen to be in the area, it's worth a 15 minute visit since it's free.

The fort is a short walk away from Ancud centre and overlooks the bay. It's small and features a few cannons and old walls. That's it. Not impressive if you've been to average sized forts elsewhere. At least it's free.

We were on a private tour and stopped by the fort after lunch. It had a nice view of the lake, but there really wasn't much else there. I wouldn't make a spsecial trip.

We visited this place at around midday on a weekday. There were almost no tourists. It is a nice place to walk by and enjoy the view. No entrance fee.

San Antonio Fort overlooks the Bay of Ancud. It is a windswept area. Cannons are of course present. The grounds are well manicured, local vendors taking up some of the green grass and walkways. The renovations are good. The most important point, however, is the fort was the last bastion of Spain in Chile's fight for independence. From this place, Spain said 'adios' to its Chilean possession.
