could be better if they hav traditional performance. we felt bad as the guide brought us into a house that is still occupied and the old lady had to wake up from her nap bcoz we wer there

We stopped in Sasak to get a sense of a traditional village and what their culture/life is like. Sasak is a real working village with 35 families and 150 people living there. Our guide spoke decent English and was able to explain their cultures and traditions e.g. where husband, wife’s and children sleep, how their houses are made and more. Our guide was from the village but moved out of it, he still has his family living there so was able to answer all of the questions that we had.
There are of course lots of villagers looking to sell you things, but that is part of the norm. Ultimately a good stopover and helpful to understand what traditional village life is like.

This is supposed to be a cultural village but I personally felt that this village is too touristy and it is filled with vendors trying to get the tourists to purchase their respective items and merchandise. There is not much to look at and I really doubt whether there are real inhabitants inside this village or not. I am not very impressed with this place.

Very interesting tour. The guide (Amber) was excellent, spoke very fluent English and lived in the village. You can wander on your own or pay (amount is up to you) a guide to show you around. My daughter was shown and given the opportunity to try their traditional weaving. We were shown into their homes and given their own grown coffee. We bought a number of their woven items which equated to about $150 for 10 days work.
Is it touristy- a little.
Is there pressure to buy - again, a little. We are rich, they are poor, so we don’t have a problem spreading the money a little amongst the locals.
It’s about 30 minutes out of Kuta and in my opinion worth the trip.

this sasak village has nothing interesting to show, there are guides fightig for tourists on the entrance and you can not enter without a guide. better visit Tetebatu, to get a better understanding about the Sasak way of living. My recommendation: http://tetebatulombokkembangkuningcottage.com/

We didn't have a choice to come to this village because it was on our tour itinerary (G adventures - Classic Lombok); very disappointing - I was so excited to see what this place had to offer; was interesting for maybe 5 minutes; was more of a disappointment than anything else.. Don't waste your time!

You can buy a traditional garment here and also watching the old lady sewing it. They have a very various unique garments and please spare some money because it's not cheap at all.

great to see this village but you do get the impression it is only for tourists and they all go home elsewhere at night despite what they say.
Maybe we are just being cynical but it's how we felt as none of the weaving could be seen other than the ones on show for tourists. Our guide said everyone weaved in their houses but we looked in the houses and didn't see any anywhere!
Anyway, it was still nice to see and we are always happy to support genuine local good causes

The traditional architecture is spellbinding, and you can see the sasak natives daily life while they string up the traditional clothes (songket) and social traditional life. But you have to consider 2 times more to buy souvenirs from here. Cause they charge more than in other place do.

Kampung sasak sade adalah satu2nya kampung tertua di lombok yg tradisi, adat istidatnya masih di pertahankan sampai saat ini, dan bentuk rumahnya jga tdk pernah di rubah dari dulu sampai sekarang.

There is an official counter which you can get taxis from. Prices are fixed depending on which area of the island you are going to. To the Manggis/Batu Bolong areas could cost between 200,000 - 250,000 rp. Buses costs less but have many stops and the timing is unreliable.
