Visited during the Chiapa de Corzo yearly fiesta so the architecture was blocked off during the event but after it ended it was unblocked. Beautiful!

We stopped at this location for lunch after a tour of the canyon of Sumidor. Although it was hot, we were able to find a nice place for lunch and there is an arcade area where you can walk and be out of the sun. You can also have a view of the river from behind the church. Many different... More

Small Town, Nice Central Park Plaza with a great structure called La pila de Chiapa de Corzo from the S. XVI Century. It's also home of The Cahuare Pier, where you take the boats to Sumidero Canyon, so its worth a visit if you are taking this ride. There are some shops and restaurants around the plaza and pier.

At the invitation of a Mexican friend from Tuxtla, we visited the Feria San Sebastien on January 14, just before the "official" opening of this event that spans +|- 10 days in January and is the equivalent of a state fair. Many traditions surround the Feria San Sebastien and we did not get to see them all, but the town... More

Chiapa de Corzo is a small city close to Chiapas' capital, Tuxtla Gutierrez. It's a beautiful town that holds the title of Pueblo Mágico. There are several attractions in town and in its surrounding - Cañon del Sumidero being the most popular, but there's also the Fuente Colonial (Colonial Fountain). Walking on its streets and enjoying an evening at one... More

In Chiapa de Corzo, they talk about the crown, the one the spanish built to celebrate their conquest,.. but behind that crown is the tree,.. very old, very special,.. it was there before the conquest ! It deserves reverence.

We visited Chiapa de Corzo during our trip to Canon del Sumidero. The place is told to be a typical traditionsl mexican village. To be honest it was very boring experience for us,there is almost nothing to do,except some local market sellers. Also it was very hot and stuffy there. 1 hour stop was too long for us.
