while the museum and th exhibition itself may be of limited interest, the building of the former Socialist School, built in the late 1930s, it itself the attraction. free to walk in and around. especially the outdoor stage and amphitheater are amazing.

Firstly the museum seems to have been renovated recently, with the price matching the update. It costs 100 pesos to enter for around 45 minutes (partly as I had to translate quite a lot of the Spanish) but it was interesting to read about the Spanish invasion, pirates and modern day Chetumal and the vision for the future.

For 17 pesos, this quaint museum gives you a complete history of Chetmaul and Quintana Roo in general. Note that the map is incorrect. The museum is located on a side street across from the Hotel Los Cocos.

Even though I lie in Mexico and in Quintana Roo I had to pay the tourist price which was 3x as much as locals pay. The museum is merely a large wooden book you walkthrough, all text with a few items of interest, not very old. Nothing is in English, I think it was totally overpriced. Very small and not worth a visit.
