We stayed at Delpino Sono Moon that faces the Ulsanbawi Rocks.

It was winter, and snowstorms were abound. So no hikes allowed during this period. Nonetheless, the view from the hotel was already breathtaking. The lines of trees along the slopes remind me of bristles on the back of a wild boar.

As a sixty two year old semi fit male fitted with a pacemaker, I obviously had slight concerns after reading some of the reviews on here. Let me assure you, you can and will do it! Take your time. Stop and drink often. Most importantly enjoy the stunning views. Smile and let on to your co hikers for the day and you will get more out of the hike. The final ascent is less of a hike and more of a stair climb. Unbelievable views between the cloud breaks on the day we were there. If you are lucky enough to have a couple of days in the park, try and do this hike when it’s clear, the walks up past the waterfalls are equally as stunning whatever the weather.

Hiking to the top of Ulsanbawi was very difficult, but nevertheless fun and also very rewarding at the end when you reached the top. It is an incredible feeling when a cloud passes through you! We also saw a cat at the peak and we were quite surprised.

The pictures really do not do this rock formation justice! You can see both the inside of the park and the outside of it on the top, as well as the ocean and Sokcho in the distance. The sheer drops on either side will have some of the most brave have second-thoughts.
The amount of stairs when you are up next to the rock is quite a lot, so be prepared for a super quad workout! The walk to the base is quite easy as it is either paved or gravel for nearly 2 kilometers. The small temple and cave signals the last kilometer of the hike and where the stairs become the vast majority of the remaining distance. It is worth it though! Would definitely do again!

A good day hike for the beginner or advanced trekker. Beautiful scenery and plenty of photo opportunities along the way

We took a total of 3-4 hours to complete the entire trail and back to the starting point (the duration depends on your speed). We were not that fit so it was actually quite challenging for us. You will have to climb many flight of stairs and overcome several rocky paths in order to reach the top. However, you will definitely not regret doing this trail. The view just gets better and better. We went during November so it was pretty cold and windy at the top so do dress appropriately!

A good challenging hike for about 3-4 hours depending on speed.
You start the hike walking through forest alongside the lake and eventually you go ascend further towards the treetop line where you gets better views of the whole national park area. The combination of staircases and bare grounds are a good switch en-route.
The view from the top is really stunning.

I went in November and I thought it would be really cold, but the weather on the mountain was so nice I had to take off my hoodie and wear my tank top to hike! The hike up to Ulsanbawi takes around 2-4 hours depending on how fit you are; it took me around 3 because we went slow. The mountain looked beautiful even with its leafless trees & I would love to go back to hike here again. Please be advised though: the hike is rather strenuous and you need to be at a relatively fit level to be able to hike to the top!

The hike up was really tiring for a good 1.5 - 2 hours (upwards) but well worth as this is not a very touristy place (you'll find yourself hiking amongst mostly locals).

Go early so you don't have to squeeze w everyone else when going up and when you've reached the top. We started at 9am and would say the crowd was moderate - we did have to wait a few minutes before our turn to take photo w the rock 😂,
