This pagoda was one of the high places from where one could observe the beautiful sunrise and sunset over Bagan. So it was usually crowded with tourists and visitors in sunset time.
But now, climbing the pagoda is not allowed, probably due to safety concerns. So one can no longer use it to watch the sunset. But it is nevertheless still a beautiful and symmetrical pagoda. The architecture is unique compared to the other Bagan pagodas. It has a number of stairs in all the four directions to go to the higher levels.
One must leave shoes outside the complex before entering. The are also lots of shops outside this pagoda complex.

It is one of the must visit pagoda if you're making a list of pagodas to visit in Bagan. Rent an e-bike from your hotel and do visit.

The sun already started setting, we rushed to one of the taller pagodas in the area – Shwesandaw Pagoda – an imposing structure visible from far away rising from the plains of Bagan, and is very popular among tourists for sunset. Our tickets for the archaeological zone were checked here. Be careful while climbing the steep stairs to the top of the Shwesandaw temple to witness one of the popular sunsets of Bagan.

A little unusual with manicured lawns outside it as like most of the major pagodas in Bagan this was completed in the 11th century. Its just amazing to think of how many excellent buildings over 1000 years old still survive largely intact in such a small location. The fact that many more have been destroyed by earthquakes and other actions make you wonder what it would look like with so many more pagodas as it it already tremendous.

One of many temples or pagodas in Bagan. Well, one of about two thousand anyway. However, that said, still manages to stand out in what is an embarrassment of riches.
The Pagoda is nestled in amongst some of the most interesting temples that also sit near this ancient world masterclass. Well worth a look when you are in the archaeological site.

A really good one to see, stripped by the passage of time of its gold-leaf finish and left stood in its structural state.

It is not allowed to climb up anymore.
There's a 2nd largest reclining buddha in Bagan.
Lots of people following to give photo service with asking money in return.
Souvenirs selling here is double priced.

One of the large pagodas that can be seen from everywhere. Moreover, she has a white top. It provides a ladder for those who want to climb.

Guys, seriously, stop trying to pay the security or anyone else to climb up and take a picture... Admire the beauty of the place and move on. This one is also quiet lonely and peaceful. Vendors around it will offer to take you to places where you can see the sunset and the sunrise
