I rode my bicycle along Bagan-Nyaung U road and was near the excavation site of King Anawrahta and Kyansittha's Palace when I turned right and bumped into this temple. The first sight of it stunned me as the architectural style was totally different from the...More

Mahabodhi Pagoda is still an active temple and locals come to worship. It gets very hot during the day and without the shoes it is almost impossible to walk around. However a great temple where locals and other buddhists still come to worship.

A simple pagoda that appears to be much less frequented by visitors. A place therefore where one can take the time to admire the uniqueness of this pagodas style, and learn of the pathway taken by Buddha for the following seven weeks after his enlightenment.

More hindu style temple with a lot of cool designs along the sides. Also a lot of pigeons hang out at this temple.

This temple is quite quiet and can be visited on the way to Buphaya Paya. I particularly liked this temple this temple because of its Indian /Hindu influences

Best from the outside. The architecture is different from the other temples but mainly from what I can tell on the outside. Stop for a short look.

This temple is different from all the other pagodas, since its a replica of the original Mahabodhi temple in Gaya, resembled more of the Indian temples with the distinct Gopura.

This pagoda looks different to other Bagan temples, because it was built to look like a Hindu temple in India. We liked it because it wasn't as busy as a lot of the other temples. It's interesting to learn how early Buddhism took from Hinduism...More
