Good to visit during sunset. Great sculpture details depicting around 450 different images of the Buddha. Its pyramidal tower can give off a light contrast especially at the south side. One turn off is one of the Buddhas having decorated christmas lights behind its head...More

After two days of temple-hopping, all of the temples in Bagan start to blend together. But the detail of Mahabodhi sets it apart. The repetitive images of Buddha were quite stunning. Look for the young woman selling thanaka outside the temple compound. She will show...More

Mahabodhi Pagoda is still an active temple and locals come to worship. It gets very hot during the day and without the shoes it is almost impossible to walk around. However a great temple where locals and other buddhists still come to worship.

A simple pagoda that appears to be much less frequented by visitors. A place therefore where one can take the time to admire the uniqueness of this pagodas style, and learn of the pathway taken by Buddha for the following seven weeks after his enlightenment.
