This temple is situated outside of Srirangam. Most of the touristic guides even not mention this nice temple, staying in the shadow of the big Rangenatha Temple. But the very old place is so attractive because of its quietness. Not the thousands of devotees, just you to enjoy this beautiful place.

This temple is a must visit for every tourist/visitor who visit Tiruchirappalli. Situated 2 kms from the Srirangam Renganathaswamy temple, it is one of the Pancha Bhootha Sihivan Stalams - Appu (water in Thamizh) stalam.

The legend says that this place represents the Water element of Panchaboothas of Nature necessary for life on Earth The temple lacks proper care and upkeep due to the shortage of funds. Many structures have developed cracks and deterioration.

The Jambukeshwar Temple is one of the 5 Pancha Bootha temples of Shiva (element temples of Shiva), and represents the water element (also called the Thiruvannakovil). The express line is recommended for those chasing time, the Linga here is amazing and I loved the architecture especially the giant pillars and ancient feel to this temple. One of the most impressive... More

Old temple that could be kept in a better condition. Architecture is a wonder and the " water submerged' Lord Siva is unique.

This is supposed to be one of the 5 elemental shivalingams (this one is for water, and apparently when the river rises, it enters the temple and covers the lingam (which is in fact at a lower level)). It is in some ways very similar (beautiful carvings) to its companion - the much more famous Ranganatha temple which is about... More

Very Old (1000+ yrs) temple built by the Cholas & significant contribution by Hoysalas later.. The walls surrounding the temple are huge like 25 feet. Also known as jambukeswarar temple (this area was Jamun forest before) the main diety is Shiva and goddess parvathi is called Akilandeshwari. The goddess worshipped the Lord here to be relieved of a curse and... More
