You know, shopping in China is special. The best shops are Korean and Japanese. And then also, China is not the place to buy luxury articles (in case you hadn't heard), because those are completely overpriced, whis is because rich Chinese like luxury articles just to show others that they can afford it, so the articles become even more expensive like in a vicious circle (with benefits for the resellers). The MixC is like any other modern luxury mall in China and it happens to be the biggest one in Nanning. Close by are the Hangyang mall and yet a third one of which the name eludes me.
Going to the mall just seems to be a popular trend in China, but in the end, if you're not here for a long time and shopping isn't really what you're looking for in travelling abroad, then don't go here.

This mall is upscale. My family enjoys some of the reasonable stores like H&M and UniQlo. We also eat at McDonalds, Grandma’s House, Starbucks, Dairy Queen, and The Open Life. It is very nice to walk around and chat with friends. We also check out the Ole international grocery store.

It's a large modern shopping centre and that's why my rating is simply 'average' because, while it's a very nice new modern building with lots of glass, brand name stores and attractions - that's all that it is.
This is just my personal angle on things but if you've come all the way to Nanning China - especially from a Western country and ESPECIALLY if this is your first and limited time visit to China - then why go to a big modern Western-style shopping centre to look at or buy high-end Western brand fashions?
Of course, there are other stores and some reasonably priced stores inside but again - these are big chains, international brands and if you didn't see Chinese characters on signs you could also be at 'West Edmonton Mall' or 'Mall of America' or probably any large shopping centre in the world.
But yes it's a very big clean shiny modern shopping mall with many of the big fashion names, cinemas and even a skating rink.

I've been on a project in Nanning for the past 4 months. I purposely selected an apartment across the street from the MixC because I was fond of its restaurants (I don't shop at Prada, nor do I ice skate). But, I typically go there at least once per day in order to eat. 地沟油 is a huge problem in Nanning so I tend to avoid normal restaurants on the street.

Here's my break down of MixC dining options:

1) Grandma's Home is, without a doubt, the best value for the money. But, I usually only go there during lunch because you need to wait at least an hour for a table during dinner time. Plus, the service is slow and bad.

2) I like the Korean BBQ place on the 5th floor. While it's not as good as its counterparts in Beijing or Shanghai, it is not expensive, and their meat is pretty nice.

3) The deli in Ole (basement) is quite solid, though the selection is limited. I go there for their ham and cheese sandwiches, and they have stored a bottle of mustard for me that others (who ask) can avail of.

4) The Thai restaurant on the 4th floor is also good, but their service is simply horrible (e.g. they like to bring out your banana split at the same time as your hot pot).

5) The buffet on the 4th floor (that has a TA listing) is overrated.

6) ACJ Diana is also a pass. (I convinced myself that I liked it during my first visit, but their sandwiches simply pale in comparison to Ole.)

7) The Wagyu Japanese restaurant (5th floor, I believe) probably offers the best Japanese food in town, but it will not wow you. I think the key there is to order intelligently.

8) The HK place in the basement (Tai Hing) is good.

With the exception of the buffet, I believe that all 8 of these venues would rank in TA's top 15 if they had their own listings.

MixC mall in Nanning is a world-class mall. It is 6 floors of shopping in a beautiful, clean, and air conditioned mall.

They have all the luxury stores you'd expect; LV, Gucci, etc. but also a good mix of middle-level brands like Gap, Uniqlo, Muji, etc.

The fifth floor is mostly tech and audio stores with some interesting mixes (computer, video games, headphones, etc).

It has an ice skating ring and and two movie theatres (one is an imax).

Good selection of restaurants; casual/quick ones in B1 (like Aijsen Ramen, Starbucks, and many others) or nicer (still good priced) up above on 3F-6F.

Overall, a great mall and I think the best in Nanning (and I've been to quite a few in Nanning).

By nanning standards, nowhere beats this mall. It's got nearly everything one expects in a great shopping destination:
1) variety of brands (i was pretty impressed they even had Y3); you also get the staple neuvo rich stuff like Gucci (which wasn't around only 5 years ago).
2) Cineplex + average arcade - adequate, but the aircon was underpowered, don't know if it was because we went for a midday show and wanted to save, or because everyone here likes it hot (I see people wearing sweaters in summer).
3) lots of food - we went to this baked fish place on the top floor and it was delicious, but pricey. The wait was an hour (to get a seat), but we just went shopping, and left our number for them to call when it was ready.
4)they've got baby change rooms - still not that common in China, but a godsend when required
4) comfortable - wide foyer at ground level giving an impression of spaciousness, and the aircon is sufficient (most of the other malls are stingy in this respect and its a welcome relief on a hot day). Only thing, there are no places to sit.
5) ice skating rink and children's "adventure tower"

Overall, it's far better than the other new mall - wanda, which is lower end and stuffy. Having said that, you need to take this i context. If this was in a major Asian city (eg. Tokyo, he), it'd be 2 to 3 stars, but just because it's in nanning, it gets 4 because there's nothing like it within a few hundred miles!

Not sure why this was recommended to me but unless you are searching for Gucci/Lous Vuitton products, no need to come. The restaurants there are average.

This is a big multi level mall of the type you would find in most large cities around the world. It has the big chain brands and many upmarket brand stores. There are many Chinese brand stores too. It has also has a few differences. It is sparkling clean, so much so that the buttons for the elevators are covered in plastic that is changed daily. It has a Train for the children to move around the children’s shops. There is an Ice Skating rink that is popular. The car park is efficient and clean.
There are also some unique shops, like the precision DIY wooden toy shop.

We happened to be here during our stay in Nanning. Very huge and well connected with subway. Lots of brands, eateries, infotainments. Bit pricy. Very near walking distance from Nanning Mariott.
