Pristine did a great job to arrange an outstanding 13 day trip for our family (my wife and me, our two sons (28, 26), daughter (24), daughter-in-law and my father). We started the trip with a 3 day climb of Mt Meru. Our lead guide Yahiya was highly competent and very friendly. We all summited Dec 20th. Several of us had done Kilimanjaro and Meru was a welcome relief from all the crowds on Kili - a chance to experience high mountain nature in Tanzania without the craziness. The assistant guide Henri was also great, as was the team of porters.

After Meru, we met my 87 year old father to do 8 days of safari in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire. Our driver and guide Laurent was highly skilled, competent and very friendly. I could not imagine a better driver/guide. He displayed amazing off road driving skills in some super muddy and rainy conditions; numerous people got stuck on one of the days of deluge, but thanks to Laurent, we cruised to camp in time for dinner. Laurent was also highly knowledgable on flora and fauna, including where to find animals. In the Serengeti on Christmas eve and also Christmas day we saw leopard, cheetah and lion. Laurent always responded to our desires in terms of the drive, whether it was stopping for zebra posing in a nice light or a dung beetle rolling dung. His English was excellent and he interacted well with our entire family.

For the safari we stayed at the Great Migration Camp in Ngorongoro (not the crater, but next to Serengeti) for three nights, at the Nyumbani Collection in Serengeti for two nights, at the Lion's Paw on the Ngorongoro crater rim, and Kichuguu Camp in Tarangirre for one night. The Great Migration Camp was simple (a mobile tent situation) and while it was really in the middle of the migration (we had herds of zebra and Wildebeast traveling 100 yards from camp), it was muddy and buggy. The other camps were luxurious and comfortable. All camps had excellent food. The camp hosts always told us how to get clean water for drinking.

This is the third time my family has used Pristine in the last two years and we've been pleased each time. We totally trust them and the staff they hire. We had significant communications with Kim beforehand, especially for this trip, and she worked with us extensively to design the best trip for us.

I join the many reviewers who would give Pristine Trails more than 5 stars if it were possible. Everything about our experience from booking to arrival to trek to safari was exceptional. Kim was super responsive to all our questions and flexible when we had to make changes to our itinerary and group size. Joel was a great host in Tanzania. The drivers were courteous and knowledgeable area guides. We added a coffee and waterfall tour without a hitch. And the trek up Kilimanjaro! Oh my goodness, it was everything we hoped it would be. Between our two guides, Job and Sule, they had over 350 successful summits under their belt and they got us to the summit just as the sun was rising. Unforgettable! Our safari was magical and our driver knew where the animals were and got us close to everything from lions to elephants to cape buffalo. And the whole time we were in Tanzania I felt like Pristine Trails had our back in case of any emergencies. You should definitely consider them for your Kilimanjaro trek or safari.

The Pristine Trails team was incredible in every way. Our guides were super fun and engaged with our group the whole time, the hot meals were fantastic, the porters were great!

Our 8-day trek to the summit gave us a chance to see how much better PT was than groups led by other companies. While we ate hot lunches in our mess tent, other groups ate cold snacks huddled under rocks. While we had a 2:1 guide/guest ratio, other groups had one guide for a dozen (or more) climbers. Our guides made sure we had the right gear, that our health was good, and they got us safely to the top and back down. We even saw our guide giving advice to other groups' guides whose clients were doing as well as we were.

Climbing Kilimanjaro is tough. The weather, the long days, and the altitude make it challenging. But Pristine Trails turned what could have been a difficult week into a fantastic one!

My daughter and I celebrated my 56th birthday while hiking Kilimanjaro with Pristine Trails. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. They even had a cake and celebration for me on the mountain! Kim was responsive, informative, and pleasant right from the start. We had some challenges with flights due to Covid 19, but Kim was always supportive and told us if we could get to Tanzania, they would be there for us. Fortunately we were able to make it! Upon arrival, Yahaya (Yaky) and Juma (our guides) checked our bags to be sure we had the equipment needed for a successful summit. From day one they had our best interests in mind and cared for us every step of the way. The crew wore masks, kept social distance, and sanitized regularly to keep us feeling safe. Yaky was a great lead guide and was able to answer our questions about the mountain with ease and confidence. He also served as a good role model/teacher for Juma, his assistant guide. As a first responder, Yaky was well trained to recognize signs of altitude sickness and to discuss medications, etc. He monitored our health daily noting any concerns he may have had. We were briefed nightly so we knew what to expect for the following day including what we needed to pack in our day packs. Juma brought laughter and jokes to the trek and was a joy to be around. He was also very knowledgeable and had a clear love for the mountain. The food not only provided the calories we needed to successfully summit but also tasted great. All of our porters were wonderful and we can't thank them enough for all they did for us. I highly recommend Pristine Trails for your Kilimanjaro trek and I hope to go back for a safari with PT in the future.

We selected Pristine after we done months of research on Mount Kilimanjaro and Safaris and we made the correct choice. Can’t say enough good things about the porters, lead guide Job assistants guide Jumo and the driver on the safari Kili. Everyone and I mean everyone at Pristine were courteous, professional and done everything possible to make our hike and Safari something we would never forget. I could go on and on about Pristine and it’s employees. I would highly recommend Pristine Trails to anyone who is thinking about hiking Kilimanjaro or Safari or both. Have to give a special thanks to the person who carried a birthday cake up to 15000 feet to celebrate my birthday.

We took a Tanzania safari trip with Pristine Trails in December 2020 and we couldn't be happier with our decision to work with them.

We contacted roughly 5-6 tour operators during the planning process, and Pristine Trails (specifically Kim) stood out as the best option. She was extremely responsive and thorough in her responses. Some of the companies that we contacted were pushing certain lodges very hard - i'm assuming due to special incentives/discounts. In contrast, Kim listened to our needs and made thoughtful suggestions based on what we wanted. She was also very quick to answer questions about visas and what to pack. Our flight was rescheduled twice during the planning process, and she readjusted the itinerary without any hiccup. We must have exchanged 60+ emails during the planning process and she was kind and courteous in each communication. I couldn't thank her enough!

Unlike many US/UK companies that contract out everything, Pristine Trails is a locally founded company. They use their own vehicles and tour guides. We requested a last minute change to our planned activities, and it was easy to communicate back and forth because our tour guide was able to contact Kim and Edward (the owners) right away. I don't think we would have been able to pull it off if we booked through a third party company.

Their jeep was very comfortable and has a charging station, which is much needed, as we took so many beautiful pictures our devices kept running out of juice! They packed a table, chairs, and a full picnic set (with real utensils, plates, wine glasses, tablecloth) for our packed lunch. We saw so many other groups eating their lunch out of a paper bag. Ours was always a FEAST in comparison. Nothing beats a real meal with wine in the middle of the Serengeti.

Our tour guide (Laurent) was amazing and we became friends over the course of the trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about the parks and animals. On multiple occasions, other tour guides stopped to ask him for directions - that's how we knew we got a good guide! He washed the jeep every night and refilled our water bottles even without us asking. He also took amazing photos and he captured some really nice moments of us together. He speaks very highly of the work environment at Pristine Trails and expressed a high level of job satisfaction. It's nice to know that the company values their employees and treats them right.

I would highly recommend Pristine Trails!

You will regret not considering Pristine Trails when planning your Kilimanjaro summit! I had a fantastic experience with them successfully reaching the summit. Our climbing team consisted of three guides, Yaya, the lead guide, two assistant guides, Soulei and Linus, an incredible chef, special porters, and traveling porters. Even though we had a large support group, our guides did a wonderful job of building a cohesive team environment in a short time by bringing the entire group together after each day's hike for celebratory dancing and speeches. I thought each porter was treated well and genuinely enjoyed working with our guides. With respect to the climb, I felt that each guide had the experience, knowledge and physical fitness to lead a group on their own. While the climb is definitely not easy, especially the summit day, our guides took every precaution, on that day and throughout the trip, ensuring that all we had to do (5 hiker group) was to focus on the climb. Each of us made to the top without any complication and our guides made each day fun with music, banter and positive vibes. Sorry forgot to mention that the food exceeded my expectations and you will definitely not go hungry with Pristine. Anyways, like I said earlier, I had a great experience and have recommended them to family and friends!! Thank you so much Pristine!!

Our 3 week trip included 2 days in Moshi before safari, 7 days on safari and the remaining days on Pemba Island, then ending with a couple of days in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Our group included 4 adults and 4 kids (Ages: 15, 12, 10, 10).

Our guides, Sadaati and Savio were the best. They were so personable, friendly and go with with flow. We felt like we made 2 new friends by the end. They were also so great with the kids and accommodating.

Every day on safari, we were so amazed by the experience that we had that we decided that it couldn’t get any better than that day, then the next day something even more amazing happened!

The flow and timing of the locations, lodge selections and length of the trip were all perfect. We loved the lodges, especially the tented camps. We started at Tarangire, then Serengeti, ending at Ngorongoro Crater. This flow and order of places was perfect. Our favorite place to stay was Nyumbani Collection tented camp in Serengeti, because of its remoteness, wild surroundings and extremely friendly staff. We felt like we were getting an authentic African experience.

The kids did really well with the pace and activities and any times we needed to adjust, our guides were more than accommodating and extremely helpful. I recommend bringing plenty of snacks, and a few activities that they can do during the long car rides while on Safari and transfers.

If I were to give any negative feedback, and this wasn’t particularly negative, maybe just our least favorite experience was the Massai village tour. We loved the dancing/singing experience, but after that the experience felt very very pushy and “salesy”. It became so much that it was uncomfortable at times. If they need money, I would rather have a donation rather than high pressure sales to buy things there that were incredibly over-priced and again at the school. I understand that they are just wanting to make a living, but I would rather them ask for a donation or have a set price to have the tour instead.

Our 5 days on Pemba island were the perfect way to end our itinerary with relaxation, beautiful beaches and a less touristy place to enjoy the blue waters and white sand than we found on Zanzibar.

2 days in Stone Town Zanzibar was a good amount to see the unique culture and history there.

Traveling during a pandemic wasn't easy, but it was oh so worth it for the experience Pristine gave us.

We began with a 10 day trek on Kilimanjaro.

Our mountain guides, Yahya and Erick, did an excellent job of both ensuring we made it to the summit, but also making it a safe and highly enjoyable experience through the length of the climb. Both of these gentleman were excellent guides, and anyone lucky enough to climb Kilimanjaro with them in the future are in for a great trip.

Along with the guides we had an entire crew with us on the mountain.

Our chef Lucas, provided us with delicious meals and snacks during our trek. He was also very accommodating with the menu whenever we would make requests.

Our "waiter", Philipo, was ever present and at the ready to make sure we had everything we needed while at camp. He was excellent at his job and an all around great guy to have with us on the climb.

Sijalli, our summit porter, is just an all around bad ass. If you want to feel utterly out classed in terms of strength and fitness on the mountain look no further than this man. Sijalli was always the first guy to the next campsite, and the first one to be back and offer us help on the way up. I'd wager just about anyone could make it to the top of the mountain with Sijalli and their team.

Malaki was in charge of managing the portable toilet on the way up. What else can I say other than "good man." Not a fun job, but a necessary one that I was very grateful for.

Our other Porters consisted of

Abdillah
Mohamed
Abel
Jordan
Daniel
Juma
Francis
Said

I owe the successes I experienced on this trip to each and every one of the hardworking men. I certainly couldn't have made it to the top without this amazing crew of mountain porters. Anyone who books with Pristine in the future would be extremely lucky to have any of these guys on their teams. I will add that Abdi, Juma, Francis, Daniel, and Abel consistently stood out as particularly hard working individuals, who were always wiling and able to go above and beyond to help us out on the way up.

After Kili we headed to the Serengeti to go on a Safari for around 6 days with our guide Peter. I don't know what else to say about Peter other than I consider myself particularly lucky to have gotten to know him as both a Safari guide, and a friend. That's not something you can say very often about a guided tour while on vacation. Peter's an all around great guy that was very knowledgeable of the animals and off road routes through the bush. Whether we were driving through the bush, or hanging around the camp having a beer and enjoying dinner, I feel very privileged to have had Peter as our guide for this segment of the trip.

All in all, I think anyone who is considering a trip to Tanzania should look no further than Pristine. Everyone in the company, from the guides and drivers, to folks like Joel back at the office in Moshi went above and beyond to ensure the trip went smoothly, and that we had a great time. It's the extra level of dedication that these guy showed us that would lead me to highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone!

I was extremely overwhelmed when planning my trip to Tanzania for a safari. There are so many companies and so many different opinions- not to mention the costs associated. After engaging in conversations with a plethora of companies, it was evident that Pristine was the way to go.

Kim goes above and beyond to answer questions, she’s very quick to respond and her follow up and follow through etiquette is unlike any other. When you’re half way across the world in a foreign country, it’s important to have that peace of mind to know that you can reach out and someone will be there to help. The company was also great at rearranging the itinerary based on my constant changing mind and working with my budget and what I desired from the trip.

Our guide was Peter and he was fantastic. I can’t believe 9 days passed by so quickly. We really enjoyed his company and his dedication to making sure we saw what we wanted. He’s fantastic at spotting the animals from a distance, without him we would’ve just seen the animals pretty much on the roadside. His other services include taking professional photographs while we used the binoculars and negotiating with locals on our behalf :)

Highly recommend!!!
