Traveling during a pandemic wasn't easy, but it was oh so worth it for the experience Pristine gave us. We began with a 10 day trek on Kilimanjaro. Our mountain guides, Yahya and Erick, did an excellent job of both ensuring we made it to the summit, but also making it a safe and highly enjoyable experience through the length of the climb. Both of these gentleman were excellent guides, and anyone lucky enough to climb Kilimanjaro with them in the future are in for a great trip. Along with the guides we had an entire crew with us on the mountain. Our chef Lucas, provided us with delicious meals and snacks during our trek. He was also very accommodating with the menu whenever we would make requests. Our "waiter", Philipo, was ever present and at the ready to make sure we had everything we needed while at camp. He was excellent at his job and an all around great guy to have with us on the climb. Sijalli, our summit porter, is just an all around bad ass. If you want to feel utterly out classed in terms of strength and fitness on the mountain look no further than this man. Sijalli was always the first guy to the next campsite, and the first one to be back and offer us help on the way up. I'd wager just about anyone could make it to the top of the mountain with Sijalli and their team. Malaki was in charge of managing the portable toilet on the way up. What else can I say other than "good man." Not a fun job, but a necessary one that I was very grateful for. Our other Porters consisted of Abdillah Mohamed Abel Jordan Daniel Juma Francis Said I owe the successes I experienced on this trip to each and every one of the hardworking men. I certainly couldn't have made it to the top without this amazing crew of mountain porters. Anyone who books with Pristine in the future would be extremely lucky to have any of these guys on their teams. I will add that Abdi, Juma, Francis, Daniel, and Abel consistently stood out as particularly hard working individuals, who were always wiling and able to go above and beyond to help us out on the way up. After Kili we headed to the Serengeti to go on a Safari for around 6 days with our guide Peter. I don't know what else to say about Peter other than I consider myself particularly lucky to have gotten to know him as both a Safari guide, and a friend. That's not something you can say very often about a guided tour while on vacation. Peter's an all around great guy that was very knowledgeable of the animals and off road routes through the bush. Whether we were driving through the bush, or hanging around the camp having a beer and enjoying dinner, I feel very privileged to have had Peter as our guide for this segment of the trip. All in all, I think anyone who is considering a trip to Tanzania should look no further than Pristine. Everyone in the company, from the guides and drivers, to folks like Joel back at the office in Moshi went above and beyond to ensure the trip went smoothly, and that we had a great time. It's the extra level of dedication that these guy showed us that would lead me to highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone!

I had the opportunity and the pleasure of spending a month in the great country of Tanzania. Traveling during Covid is fine it just takes extra preparation and most importantly it takes a strong support network for changes. Tanzania is open for travel and in some ways this is the perfect time to go. I really enjoyed fewer people on the mountain and fewer vehicles on safari. If you are considering a vacation/holiday this is the time to visit Tanzania! Once that decision has been made your next decision should be an easy one. The company you want to hire is Pristine! From start to finish this team of people are on their "A" game. The process starts with Kim who from the beginning was on top of everything. The pandemic has created an additional layer of activities like Covid tests and flights changing. Joel is your in country eyes and ears. As things changed he would see it before we did. Having a local company in your corner is a powerful tool. On more than one occasion Joel helped smooth out the details. This first paragraph is really directed to admin side of the company. Don't be afraid to travel to Tanzania! Just make sure that Pristine is in your corner. They are local and experts on where to source the support you will need! Our first activity in Tanzania was Mount Kilimanjaro. We took the Northern Circuit and spent 10 days on the mountain. Our team name was "The Corona Club". Our team consisted of Yahaya our lead guide. You will find Yahaya extremely focused on the mission. The mission is getting you to the top! He runs a tight ship and everyone knows what they need to do. At 58 I was by far the oldest person on the team. I had little doubt that he would have dragged me to the top if required. Erick was our assistant guide. Erick is fast tracking to become a lead guide and I have no doubt that he will make it. He is patient and quick to notice if you need help. Lucas was our chef. Lucas made way to much food and Yahaya keep trying to make us eat it. The food was good and Lucas even showed us how to make Ugali. Sijali was our summit porter. I don't even know what to say about this man other than he is a beast. You want this man on your trip! Philipo was our waiter. He woke us up every morning and made sure that we got fed and that we had water in our bottles. If I needed something he was the man. Malaki was in charge of the toilet. So this topic is not as glamorous but nonetheless very important. from positioning the tent not far from our tent and keeping everything clean and ready to go I for one will say "I appreciate everything you did!" Our Porters consisted of Abdillah I just called him Abdi Mohamed Abel Jordan Daniel Juma Francis Said We were fortunate to have a group of hard working people that would go above and beyond their jobs everyday. Each day the group would set the new camp up and then back track down the trail to take our ruck sacks from us for the rest of that days trek. Day in and day out I was always amazed by this group. Needless to say the trip to the top was a success and the credit goes to the group listed above. If you take the time to travel half way around the world take the pro's with you to the top. Safari was the next event. Peter was our guide and driver. We spent a week with Peter and couldn't be happier that we got him as our guide. Peter is the real deal. He is a full time Safari guide. This became quickly evident in the Serengeti. It is very easy to get lost out there. Peter tailored each days activities around how much we wanted to do. If we wanted or needed something we just let him know and he always knew where to go. One of my personal favorites was the Ngorongoro crater. Peter is also part of that support network that is so important. he ensured that my son got his covid test and the results for his flight out. He also assisted him one more time with his flight out. Peter continued to check in on me even after the safari was over. If the opportunity presents itself ask for Peter, you won't be disappointed. At this point my son flew home and I headed to Mafia island. Mafia island is a little known jewel off the coast of Africa. If your looking for the full resort thing go to Zanzibar. If your looking to get off the beaten track check Mafia island out. I stayed at Butiamia Beach Lodge and loved it. A great place to stay. From Mafia I headed to Dar. I needed to take my Covid test. While I was there I did the town tour and the following day I went north to Bagamoyo. Bagamoyo is a key historical town that has been inhabited since the 13th century. During this last leg of my vacation I was pretty much on my own however in the background was Joel making sure I got my covid test, making sure the flight hadn't changed. Again the support network was humming in the background. A month went by and it was a trip that I won't soon forget and the credit for this goes to a long list of people that work for a very special company!

I climbed Kilimanjaro 8 years ago with a different tour operator. I was happy with their services and recommended them to others. However, now that I can compare the services provided by two different companies, I will only recommend Pristine Trails from now on. The difference in care and professionalism is very obvious. Kim was very helpful and accommodating throughout the booking process. Given the pandemic, this was not an easy time to plan a trip with last minute changes by the airline before our departure. We were greeted by a big smile at Kilimanjaro International Airport where we met our driver, Laurent. Little did we know then that we would become close friends by the end of the trip. A couple of days later we met our mountain guides, Francis and Suley, who briefed us regarding our 10-day trek on Kilimanjaro and checked our equipment. I thought my guide 8 years ago was good, but he pales in comparison to Francis and Suley. The care and professionalism of these two guides cannot be superseded. Not only they took very good care of us (especially when I was sick with AMS), but we also laughed a lot and became very good friends in a short time. The celebrations on the summit, the following day, and at the end of the trek were truly special. We planned this trip for my boyfriend, Randy's, 50th birthday and he couldn't have had a better celebration. We were the only people on the summit on a beautiful, sunny day with lots of snow and amazing views. In comparison, 8 years ago I had fog, no visibility, and about another hundred people to share the summit with. Our whole team was fantastic including our cook, our special porters, and all our other porters. One team, one dream was our motto during the trek. After our successful Kilimanjaro climb, we continued our unforgettable adventure with a 9-day safari. We actually did the first day of our safari, the coffee tour, before the trek, so we embarked on an 8-day trip with Laurent, our driver/safari guide. 8 years ago I did a camping safari so I wanted to try a lodge safari this time. All the lodges/camps we stayed at were phenomenal. We loved the luxurious accommodations at the tented camps. Because of the pandemic, we were the only guests at most of the camps and we were treated like royalty. Laurent provided a lavish lunch every day with an unbelievable setup. No box lunches for us. Instead, we enjoyed a cooked lunch with wine and tea every day. We were very lucky on our safari and saw animals and events rarely seen by others (for example a cheetah taking down a Grant's gazelle or the wildebeest migration crossing Lake Ndutu). Laurent was a very safe and experienced driver/guide and he could name all the birds and animals. He was also a great photographer and took really good pictures of us. After our safari, we spent a few more days in Arusha because of the COVID testing requirement by our airline. Pristine Trails made sure that we weren't left alone during this time and we got all the help we needed. Laurent was there for us every day. Without his help, it would have been very difficult for us to acquire the required COVID tests and results. A big thank you also goes to Pristine Trails manager, Joel, who helped us with the payment and the results for our COVID tests. As a thank you for his dedication, we organized a surprise birthday celebration for Laurent by inviting our mountain guides, Francis and Suley, for his birthday lunch at George's Tavern in Arusha. It was so nice to get together for a farewell lunch with all of our guides who made this trip so successful and so unforgettable. Randy and I had many epic adventures the past 8 years, but I agree with him when he says that this trip topped them all. He couldn't have imagined a better 50th birthday celebration. We left Tanzania yesterday but we know that we will be back one day to see our friends again. And when we book our next trek or safari, we cannot imagine going with anyone else but Pristine Trails. They are simply the best!

We took a Tanzania safari trip with Pristine Trails in December 2020 and we couldn't be happier with our decision to work with them. We contacted roughly 5-6 tour operators during the planning process, and Pristine Trails (specifically Kim) stood out as the best option. She was extremely responsive and thorough in her responses. Some of the companies that we contacted were pushing certain lodges very hard - i'm assuming due to special incentives/discounts. In contrast, Kim listened to our needs and made thoughtful suggestions based on what we wanted. She was also very quick to answer questions about visas and what to pack. Our flight was rescheduled twice during the planning process, and she readjusted the itinerary without any hiccup. We must have exchanged 60+ emails during the planning process and she was kind and courteous in each communication. I couldn't thank her enough! Unlike many US/UK companies that contract out everything, Pristine Trails is a locally founded company. They use their own vehicles and tour guides. We requested a last minute change to our planned activities, and it was easy to communicate back and forth because our tour guide was able to contact Kim and Edward (the owners) right away. I don't think we would have been able to pull it off if we booked through a third party company. Their jeep was very comfortable and has a charging station, which is much needed, as we took so many beautiful pictures our devices kept running out of juice! They packed a table, chairs, and a full picnic set (with real utensils, plates, wine glasses, tablecloth) for our packed lunch. We saw so many other groups eating their lunch out of a paper bag. Ours was always a FEAST in comparison. Nothing beats a real meal with wine in the middle of the Serengeti. Our tour guide (Laurent) was amazing and we became friends over the course of the trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about the parks and animals. On multiple occasions, other tour guides stopped to ask him for directions - that's how we knew we got a good guide! He washed the jeep every night and refilled our water bottles even without us asking. He also took amazing photos and he captured some really nice moments of us together. He speaks very highly of the work environment at Pristine Trails and expressed a high level of job satisfaction. It's nice to know that the company values their employees and treats them right. I would highly recommend Pristine Trails!

The crew at Pristine Trails were absolutely phenomenal. Stop your search and book with Pristine now. For our trip, we used Pristine for our Kili climb (8-day Lemosho route) and Safari (4-day to Tarangire NP, Seregenti NP, and Ngorogoro Crater). Our trip was only the two of us, due to COVID cancelations (September 2020). During the planning phase, Kim was amazing at putting together numerous itineraries/prices for us since we couldn't make up our mind what safari we wanted. She was extremely helpful in providing information on each park and how long the driving distances would be. Once we arrived on site, our every need was met to. We were picked up at the airport and driven to a great hotel the Pristine crew booked for us. They made sure to choose a hotel that was taken extra precautions for COVID, which was much appreciated. All Pristine employees did a wonderful job wearing masks, sanitizing, and maintaining all of the necessary precautions during our trip. Kim (different Kim) and Sule were our guides on the mountain were brilliant. The both had a wealth of knowledge and experience; not to mention did many extra things that other companies appeared to not. For instance, we ate all three meals together with both guides, where we talked about the day and joked around. They checked in on our mental and physical health and gave us support and confidence to keep climbing even when we thought we couldn't. It was very nice to have two people that truly cared about our summit goal and did everything possible to get us to the top. The crew of porters was simply amazing too. Many days, after lugging everything up the mountain and setting up camp, they would walk BACK DOWN the mountain to help up carry our day packs and give us a much-needed energy boost with their singing, dancing, and cheery attitudes. Couldn't have asked for more from them. For the safari - Laurent was our guide and he was just an amazing as the mountain crew. He's funny, witty, incredibly smart, and a great driver. Laurent knew all of the best places to find game in each park, and seemed to always get to the good spots before any other drivers. He expertly navigated us to a heard of elephants crossing a path, spotted cheetahs and leopards before any one else could, and always had great knowledge about each animal. The safari jeep was clean, had electric outlets and a fridge, and was comfortable. Just ask for Laurent - he's amazing. As I said - book this company. Tell them what experience you're looking for and they will make it happen.
