Thank You for the Gift!
Apr 2017 • Friends
Soon after returning to our hotel after climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in April, the women of the Co-operative greeted me and our team and gave each of us colorful Kilimanjaro wristbands as congratulatory gifts. I wear the wrist band nearly every day and I cannot thank them enough for their thoughtfulness. Afterwards, I purchased numerous items for gifts from their selection of items and they were all big hits back home. Thanks again for your kindness and I am happy to have contributed to such a worthy cause.

Shop is closed at location given
Feb 2017 • Solo
The shop is closed down at the location given on trip advisor. Sad to have missed it. We went to the address given which doesn't match the map location and the shop was vacant. If there is a new address let me know.

A great place for a great cause
Jun 2015 • Solo
It's often too few and far between where you stumble upon a great shop that is also going towards a great cause. I found out that this cooperative is helping to support the long-term education and access to free adult education for women in the Moshi region. Funds from your purchase are helping to support the long-term employment of graduates from the Give a Heart to Africa school, and helping these mamas make their own income and decisions, often for the first time. This is a great place to buy gifts!

Amazing crafts made by amazing women!
Oct 2015 • Friends
This place is incredible...you can buy beautiful handmade crafts (some Tanzanian, some Western with a Tanzanian flair) for yourself or others. But the most amazing part is who made the crafts. These women are graduates of a local school (run for free by a Canadian NGO) called Give A Heart To Africa. They have beaten the odds to go to school, learn business skills and crafting skills as well as basic English. In a male-dominated culture like Tanzania's, these women are truly incredible! I was so touched by their stories, their smiles, their warmth, and their pride. I wanted to buy everything in the store! I can't wait to give people their gifts and explain where they can from. :-)

Beautiful handmade treasures made by wonderful women!

I was thrilled to find crafts that were different than many of the other places in Moshi. I brought home a gorgeous yoga bag and a robe made out of the local materials. The mamas are lovely, and I loved supporting a local grassroots organizations.

Colorful, Rustic Charm

The handcrafts for sale in the Women's Arts and Crafts Co-operative are one-of-a-kind, and each is beautifully made. And you can tell by meeting with the women in the shops that each piece was lovingly created. And the prices are great!

An amazing unique place
Dec 2014
This beautiful arts and crafts shop is run by GHTA graduates who have gone into business to build a better lives for themselves and their families. They are absolutely lovely and talented women and their products are amazing! Their hand dyed batik are particularly good. As are the hand painted coconut pods.

Handcrafted Gifts; Meet the Artisans!
Dec 2014 • Solo
Fabulous selection of gift items; jewelry, clothing, accessories are beautifully made and affordable. The women of the co-op that craft the items are always at work there to assist you with selections. They take great pride in their creations, and they constantly add new styles and fabrics. They have a lovely selection of quality cards with envelopes, too.
Working together is an encouragement to these individuals whose lives are affected by the money they earn. I have helped them with inventory, learned some of the intricate processes of jewelry-crafting, and I have bought many of their items personally. The mamas are so friendly and welcoming; don't miss this great shop.
