Overview
It is more secluded and arguably more attractive as a newer route, but it is also significantly longer and more expensive. It was developed as an alternative to the Shira route and begins on the western side of the mountain at the Londorossi Gate, which is a long drive from town.
On day 3, it crosses the Shira Plateau to connect with the Machame Route at Lava Tower and descend to Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit after passing through spectacular woods and moorlands. You might see buffalo, elephants, and other animals if you're lucky. This route has a better summit success rate since it may be done over a longer period of time for acclimatization.

We did this January the Northern Circuit with Top Climbers. It was a thrilling adventure. Even so my partner had no experience in mountain climbing we made it up to the top. A big thanks goes to our guides, Joseph and Hamidi and the good organisation by top climbers. Wouldn’t have make it without your help!

My wife and I and two of our friends complete the Lemosho route in Jan 2022. It was difficult, enriching, and an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience, and there's likely no way we'd be able to do it without the help, support, and encouragement of our team at Top Climbers. Our guides Noah and Jackson were fantastic. Not only did they always help moderate our pace, gave us history and details of the routes and the various ecosystems we experienced, but they also facilitated our entire experience with patience, calm, and a positive attitude that helped make even our most difficult days a positive, affirming experience. Our porters and staff were really the all-stars and not only did they help make every campsite feel like home, they truly felt like family on the journey. Idris provided great meals that fueled our trek, Israel was the consummate dinner host and was always available to help with whatever we needed, and each and every porter always greeted us with a smile, encouragement, a "Mambo Vipi" and a fist pound to celebrate each day whether we passed them on the trail or met up with them at camp. As a not-super-experienced hiker, the thing I most appreciated was the patience and care the whole staff took with us - both on the trail and before and after the trek in debriefs. We had a few items that we were missing on day one and they made it very easy to rent any missing items to ensure we were as comfortable as we could be throughout our trek. Some advice: - Diamox definitely helped us skirt the roughest symptoms of altitude sickness; recommend it. - Summit night is HARD. Just keep telling yourself left, right; or pole pole; or reinforce the knowledge that you have a great team behind you and that the summit is 100% worth it. - Get the private toilet if it isn't already included in your package. We've done multi-day overnight treks without this in the past, and having it was SO much better. - Ask your guides to tell you the story of Kilimanjaro, and ask about the various climates youll experience! Kili is really a wild diverse ecosystem and learning more about it along the way helps you appreciate the trek more. - Ask for Noah and Baba Jackson as your guides! I'm sure every set of guides at Top Climber are amazing, but these two really made our trip special.

We climbed to the Kibu summit with Topclimbers via the Lemosho Route. It was an unforgettable and breathtaking experience that we will not soon forget. Our guides Lahara and Viviano took great care of us. With Shabani we had the best cook ever, unbelievable what he could conjure up with only one gas flame. We were accompanied by 8 porters who did an incredible job. We climbed the summit via the Western Breach. The path is incredibly steep and almost life-threatening due to the falling stones - we would therefore recommend the normal path up. Topclimbers checked our equipment beforehand and made sure that we were equipped with everything we needed. What we didn't have, we could rent. Oscar picked us up from the airport, he was also super helpful and friendly. On my birthday we came down - they made me a cake and sang to me, it was the nicest birthday in a long time. Topclimbers made us feel absolutely comfortable at all times and we would book the tour with them again anytime. Highly recommended! Once again a huge thank you to the whole team of Topclimbers for these wonderful 8 days.

My husband and I did the 7 day Lemosho route and a 2 day mid luxury safari in January 2022 with another couple through Top Climbers, and we couldn't be happier! I did so much research before booking this company, and I am so glad I decided to go with them. They made the booking process simple, answered all of our questions, and made sure we were prepared. Even when we had to reschedule our trip multiple times due to covid, they were helpful and accommodating every step of the way. I also chose them because I read they treat their porters and workers well, which was very important to us. Our guides: Noah and Jackson were INCREDIBLE. I can't say enough positive things about them. They helped all 4 of us make it to the top, made us laugh along the way, allowed us to go at our own pace, answered all of our questions, and truly made the experience unforgettable. They also looked over all of our gear before the trek to make sure we had what we needed, and whatever was missing was available to rent. They also monitored our pulse and blood oxygen levels every day of the hike, as well as if we were experiencing headaches/nausea/etc. We felt very safe and knew we were in good hands. We thank them so much! Our porters: The porters are truly rockstars. We literally couldn't have made it up the mountain without them and their hard work and positive energy. Leaving our team at the end of the trek truly felt like leaving family. We miss them already! The food: Our chef Idris was awesome! All allergies and food preferences were accommodated, and we had hot meals every day full of carbs and protein to keep us fueled for our trek. We brought snacks and almost never needed them because we were so well fed! The hike: The first 5 days of the hike were challenging, but very manageable and fun. We would rate those days about a 7 in terms of challenge (but a 10 in terms of scenery!) For context, my husband and I are fitness trainers and pretty in shape, but the other couple we were with are not "fitness people." The hike was actually very enjoyable! We saw so many different climates and sceneries, the views were stunning, and it was truly the experience of a lifetime. Summit night was very challenging for all of us-- there were moments of doubt where we weren't sure we could make it, but we are SO GLAD we pushed ourselves and our team of guides and porters kept us going when we felt like quitting. We ALL made it to the top. We only had mild rain one day, and the weather was pretty good in January (although very cold and windy at the top!) The safari: Our guide Chris was awesome on our mid-luxury, 2 day safari. Top Climbers made the process of doing both back to back very simple. We saw SO MANY animals in the Teregire Desert and Ngorogoro Crater and stayed at the best safari lodge. It was the perfect way to unwind after the hike! If you are like me and research like crazy before booking anything (which you probably are if you're reading this), trust me when I say you can stop your search and book Top Climbers today. You won't regret it! They will get you to the top of Kilimanjaro safely and with smiles on your faces, with stories to tell for a lifetime and an experience you will never forget. We get emotional just thinking back on our experience and hope you all get to see for yourself. Thank you Top Climbers-- we hope to come back someday!
