Highly recommend booking with Ascend Tanzania for a worry-free, value for money Kilimanjaro hike! 💯 Syed followed up closely on trip planning months before the hike, airport pick-up, drop-off and accommodation were all well-coordinated. The hiking crew led by Liverson were kind and attentive - it’s obvious they love the mountain and working with each other. Liverson gave accurate advice on what items to rent after reviewing my gear on D-1 and provided clear suggestions on what to wear during daily health checks on the trail. Every meal on the mountain was delicious and tents were set up ahead of our arrival. Special mention to Lomnya who refilled my water bag, served/collected every meal and hot water bowl to my tent with a smile every day ☺️ thank you Liverson and team for making this 7 day journey such a comfortable one, I miss you guys already!

The absolute best tour group to do Mt Kilimanjaro with! We were a group of 5 friends who did the 8 day Lemosho Route and had the most amazing experience led by our head guide Sam!
Ascend Tanzania were so helpful and responsive in the lead up to the trip, easy to book, make payments and arrange gear hire with.
The team we hiked with were awesome, they fed and took care of us so well -
The porters are absolutely amazing, getting to camps ahead of us to ensure tents were ready each day, and sourcing water for us at each stop, thank you so much for your hard work!
Imamu was our incredible chef - wow, the food he made us was unbelievably good - pastas, curries, rice, soups, sandwiches, salads, even pizza and chicken & chips!! We were not expecting to eat so well, or so much! And thank you to our waiter Gerard for always setting up our meal tent so nicely and for the morning coffees!
We hiked with Sam, Lupa and Jackson - and they made the experience so much fun. They had great advice about what to expect each day, what to wear and how to avoid/manage altitude sickness.
The hike itself was great, highly recommend the 8 day route to maximise the chance for acclimatisation and to enjoy the scenery and the camps. This route meant we were finished hiking before lunch most days, and had the afternoon to rest. We got lucky with the weather - beautiful sunshine most days, great visibility and minimal winds on summit night, we only got rained on day 7. But still pack everything Ascend recommends as you’ll definitely need it.
Physically the trek was fine (we’re a group of fit 30 year olds) but most challenging part of the trek was the descend. The toilets left a bit to be desired but nothing unexpected there!!
Highly recommend Ascend Tanzania to anyone wanting to book their Mt Kilimanjaro trip!

We did the Kilimanjaro trek (6 days Machame Route) in August 2024, followed by a 3-days Safari. Ascend Tanzania team was great! perfect organization, always prioritizing customer needs, they gave us the best experience on Mount Kilimanjaro. Tents were very comfortable (extremely good mattresses), and already set up when we arrived to camp. Very good and diverse food, there were three hot meals per day (never had canned food!). Typical camp set-up includes a night tent, a restaurant tent, and a toilet tent (available as add-on, strongly recommended). Every night we got a briefing on the next day, our guides were super nice and prepared, flexible and ready to listen to our proposals (we decided last minute to complete the trek in 6 days instead of the 7 days planned).
On the summit day, there was an extra porter ready to help us with our day-packs in case we felt too tired. We made it to the top and couldn't be happier!
Also the 3-days safari (Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park) was amazing, perfect organization and super cool lodges (really recommended the Marera Valley Lodge). We loved Tanzania and we loved Ascend Tanzania team!
On the summit day, there was an extra porter ready to help us with our day-packs in case we felt too tired. We made it to the top and couldn't be happier!

We did the 8 day Lemosho route and had the best time with the Ascend crew, Sam was our lead guide with Jackson and Lupe assisting and they were all so knowledgeable and helpful, always making us feel super safe and supported with a laid back vibe! The rest of the crew was amazing as well, the work they do is truly insane, and we ate like kings with Imamu’s cooking. We really would not have all made it to the top without the support of this crew! Highly highly recommend going with Ascend!

10/10 experience with Ascend to achieve my goal of summiting on my 60th birthday even surprising me with a table and cake at the summit!
I did this trek solo which I can honestly say is the way to go. My team of 6 led by senior guide Jafary did everything they could to make my experience not only a success but memorable I enjoyed every second and was reassured of my progress each day by having my vitals checked morning and night
Very professional team from the moment I booked my trek almost a year before doing it right up to the end when we got back to Moshi they even laminated my summiting certificate so I could get it home in one piece
Thank you Ascend for making this a memory of a lifetime

My partner Gerben and my friend Fred and I booked the 7 day Machame route to climb Kili. It was very well organised, with all transportation perfectly organised by Syed. We were very happy to book with a local company. The climb is highly recommended and each day was beautiful in scenery. The food was really good, and tents were set up as soon as we got to each camp site. Our guide Emmanuel was very experienced and highly knowledgeable. I felt safe at all times. We had a great time, we all summited, although it was a tough summit day. The crew were there to help us every step of the way, with handing us our water bottles/ snacks, to singing fun songs to help distract us. It was also Gerben's birthday on the mountain and they made it very special. Best experience ever!! Highly recommend this company!!!

We organized our trip to Kilimanjaro and a safari since March and they were extremely communicative and informative from the start. Once we got to Tanzania, everything was ready to go and we set to do the Lemosho trail up to the top.
During the hike, Sam and his team took care of us amazingly, sparing no detail and most importantly, keeping an eye on us as we ascended for signs of altitude sickness. We could have not had a better team.
We managed to summitt kilimanjaro despite the conditions thanks to our great guides and it is an event we will never forget.
After the climb, they drove us to Arusha to our booked accomodation and the safari was run by Suricata safaris. This experience was a bit worse than the trip to Kilimanjaro. Our guide was great to take us from place to place but quite quiet during the whole experience, which seems like a wasted opportunity to teach us about the wonders of the parks and its fauna and flora. Otherwise it was ok.
Thanks for everything and if you choose Ascend Tanzania, you will for sure experience something you never did before summitting the top of Africa.

I recently completed a Kilimanjaro climb with Ascend Tanazania, and everything was exactly as I expected! The meals during the trip were delicious, and the overall organization was very good. Both of my guides, Jackson and Sam, were great, but I have to give a special shout-out to Jackson, who helped me reach the summit when I was on the verge of giving up. His encouragement made all the difference.
The company also provided excellent gear for the trip — from comfortable mattresses to a well-insulated tent, chairs and so on everything was top-notch. The guides and porters even helped to carry our day packs when we needed some rest, checked on our health every morning, ensuring we were acclimatizing well, and even provided medication if needed.
Also, before the trip the company were super helpful, answering all my questions and accommodating any requests I had. Highly recommend for anyone looking to add Kilimanjaro to your list 🙏🏼

Kilimanjaro 2024 via the Marangu route (coca cola route) was the experience of a lifetime. AGA adventures and Ascend Tanzania teamed up to provide the 16 of us with an unforgettable trip. So many positives but one that can’t be overlooked was the 3AM pickup at your hotel to drive you to the airport (Thank you Julius). Lazarro the main guide on our trek was a wealth of knowledge in preparing us for the trek but especially the summit push. Pole pole! 5 stars!

I just started researching climbing Kilimanjaro. I’m 60 years old, and in reasonably good shape. I hiked 4 peaks in the Adirondacks last yr.but am concerned about the difficulty in attempting this climb. Any information or advice would be appreciated. Thank you...David

I don't entirely understand your question, but: there are usually people trying Kilimanjaro with all kinds of different levels of fitness. Coping with altitude is partly training, partly a good acclimatization plan and partly genetics. Generally speaking an average sporty people should be able to climb Kilimanjaro without problems.
If you are worrying about the dynamics of the group because of different fitness levels, than don't. There will be a guide or assistant-guide for each and one of you, so it is basically almost like you are climbing alone. You can any time keep your individual pace, without concern about the others. You will have 1 member of the staff right next to you, willing to help: take your rucksack, even drag you up until the summit if necessary. Kilimanjaro staff is mostly relying on the tips they get at the end, so they are willing to do almost anything for your success, because that guarantees their fat tip at the and.
About medicines: just take it easy and avoid if possible. Even aspirin and ibuprofen have serious side-effects. Your stomach will be put to the test anyways, so don't make it harder with drogs (medicines). Train before, walk slowly, drink a lot, eat when having appetite, rest between.

How far is it possible to climb with a child? My son is 8 but very fit, however don't think he would enjoy trekking every day, but one day treck and a night on the mountain sounds ideal.
Any suggestions?
