During our daughter and son in law's visit in October we visited the museum complex to view the "fynbos" expo. All exhibits are well organised and fairly well maintained and we found the marine museum very interesting and informative. Some of the staff were not...More

The replica ship was good. The exhibition around it could be better, with less about Portuguese exploration and maps and more about exploration generally. The post box was fun and you can get stamps and them stamped in the shop in the maritime museum.

Interesting and tidy, though with a bit more funding it has the potential to be a lovely tourist attraction as this hosts some of the oldest recorded history of South Africa. Very interesting information of the local plants could be made available in book/pamflet form...More

The museum was a great day trip. Beautiful location. There are multiple things to see, from a variety of flora to a shell museum and a replica of the ship Dias was on. Worth the trip

If you are interested in SA and Mossel Bay's history - come here. It is also a good place to bring the kids to understand something about our "roots"

The museum is cantered around a replica of the Portuguese ship that first sailed round the cape in the late 1400s when their navigators were discovering the world - Columbus went the other way and found the Americas. This boat actually made the same trip...More

Not very impressive. You walk in to a table full of plants/flowers that are all half dead when they are actually supposed to be a fresh plant display. The exhibits are all needing maintenance done to them, and a severe update to the overall appearance....More
