Not at all something I would recommend. It is an average museum. The aquarium is so small, I think I would actually see more of I just stuck my head in the ocean. Other than that, nothing special.

Although small, this museum has an excellent history of Portuguese exploration of South Africa via a series of posters and maps in chronological order around the replica of Dias' caravel in which 33 men sailed. Looking in side it you cannot imagine the conditions of...More

When you are in Mossel bay, don't miss the Bartholomew Dias museum. It is located in a big park down towards the harbour. There are a few parts to the museum, at the entrance there is an exhibition on the local community and after that...More

No visit to Mossel Bay is complete without making a turn through the Diaz museum. It is a sprawling complex with an aquarium, garden with braille info boards, the main museum complex that houses the Caravelle and views to die for.

For those interested in the early Portuguese explorers this is well worth a stop. If you have children travelling with you they will like the fact they can jump on board a replica of the Diaz ship. The information is well documented & displayed. Allow...More

Unfortunately time was severely limited so could not spend the time needed. The shell displays were really good and the history message clear. Enjoyed the mixture of indoor and outdoor displays. Not sure how the display of old sports clothing optometrist equipment etc fitted in...More
