At Kisumu Impala Park there are various animals. You will get to see Lions, there a few lions in the cages amazing experience to see Lions in kisumu.
Then there is a crowd puller, a leopard, he is such a stunning animal and for it to be an illusive cat it shows itself openly for everyone to take pictures.
Zebras roam the park freely no enclosures.
They also have an enclosure with Hyena.

All in all it's a total family getaway as there are also boat rides available for your adventurous mind looking for Hippos, Fish Eagles, Kingfishers amongst others.

Come satisfy your adventure, cone visit Kisumu Impala Park.

Overpriced.

At the outset, this place is lovely and it seems a lot has improved since some of the earlier reviews. However, to make foreigners pay $20 is just obscene and felt like highway robbery. There really isn't that much to see....

The problem was the entry - pretty pricy, and the people weren't helpful. Beautiful grounds and views of Lake Victoria. The kids who were with us had a great time.
We weren't able to walk through, and the driving areas are limited, so missed a lot of the animals. It was mid-day and all the big cats were asleep. :-)

We decided to go to the impala sanctuary thinking that it was mostly an impala sanctuary with some wildlife rescue as a minor part of what they do. It turned out that the animals that are rescued, are not rehabilitated and returned to the wild, but kept at the sanctuary. Most of what you see are these animals in a zoo-like setting. We didn’t see any impalas because they really do roam and stay in the forested area of the sanctuary. Was quite expensive and we were surprised by how many caged animals there were. The views of the lake were pretty, the grounds were very nice and our tour guide was very good. But we did leave feeling very uneasy and surprised because it wasn’t really as advertised and we are not people that would generally go to a zoo.

There is a big sign telling people not to throw their rubbish on the ground but they do you name it we saw it trodden into the dirt. The place is falling apart and needs some serious work. For a Kenyan entry is 215kes for non Kenyans for a couple like us it was 6500kes. Come on again if you want to attract foreign tourists you need to invest and not just take the money. Some bins for litter at least. And litter strewn all around could be picked up. Not good value at all

We wondered if it was a sanctuary or a zoo. The majority of animals are in cages (lions, leopards, monkeys, buffaloes, etc.). We were made clear that there were no plans to release them into their natural habitat... What is the objective of this “sanctuary”? Saving animals to imprison them and make them captive until the end of their lives? One wonders if the final objective is not simply to make money on the backs of these incredible living beings... $23 for foreigners, to see animal suffering, no thank you!

I do not recommend at all.

The conditions in which the animals are held, apart from the Impalas and the Zebras who were running free, are unacceptable and sad. The spaces for caged animals like leopard, lyons and other animals are far too small, the infrastructure (paths, fences, no resting places or broken, etc.) is poor and there is rubbish everywhere on the lake front. The quality of service delivered compared to the fee rate for foreigners is not justifiable. More should be done to create liveable conditions for the animals and a real experience for the visitors.

This little gem is tucked into a corner of the city, right beside Lake Victoria. A quick boda-boda takes you from the middle of town. Perhaps surprisingly, you'll need your passport. That's because the prices they charge foreigners are literally ten times what the locals pay. But that's just to help support the Sanctuary. If you're visiting there, you can afford it. It's a well-run place, operated by the Kenyan Wildlife Service. I went with a Kenyan friend, and she had the idea of requesting a guide, which was a really good move. He was knowledgeable and took us around to the parts of the enclosures where the animals are most likely to be found. He explained that all of the animals are rescues, including their leopard. None of them would have survived on their own as orphans. We took a boat ride after the Sanctuary tour, and saw the hippos. Lunch (fish, and ugali, of course!) at a lakeside restaurant afterwards.

You may be in for a loooong complicated procedure to gain entry…. And then be refused because their system is ridiculous. Like trying to get into Fort Knox. So; can’t tell you about any park, animals, lake……. Just the main gate and the security staff. Not fun and an hour wasted on needless red tape. Ten minutes was spent checking and re-checking my postcode!!! I mean come on; you want visitors or not? False pretenses. utterly useless.

The Impala sanctuary was a wonderful place to visit. We were able to see monkeys and ostriches, zebras and Impala, a leopard and Simba the lion. The favorite was Ben the water buffalo He is a friend to all. What a wonderful time we had strolling through the park seeing the animals and learning about them.
