We recently stopped here on a cruise through the South Pacific. The island itself has some beautiful scenery, but we were not told about the need for ‘reef safe’ sunscreen before attempting to snorkel at Jinek Bay. We had carried all our snorkelling gear off...More

Fantastic experience as soon as you hit the shore. Lovely ladies to braid hair A$15 kids, Massages from A$10. Short walk through some market stalls and over a small hill to another cove. This would have been the perfect snorkelling spot but you must book...More

Yhis cruise was quite a bumpy one. Anyway, we coukd still get on a tender for lifou. We did what everyone suggested and walked up to the church. There was quite a lot of huffing and puffing from my behalf. At times it was very...More

This was a day stop during a pacific cruise. Absolutely lovely beach with crystal water but, be warned the first 4-5m walk into the ocean has extremely sharp coral underfoot. There is an absolutely stunning lagoon on the opposite side of the island for snorkelling,...More

I was fortunate to be able to experience the real island life, away from all the tourism areas (which in themselves is quite immature). Lifou is not somewhere to go if you want 3, 4 or 5 star resort-style holiday. There are a couple of...More

We didn't do any tours here. We headed straight over to Jinek Bay to go snorkeling. Not many people knew they only allow 100 people at a time to snorkel in the morning and the afternoon in an attempt to preserve the reef. So if...More

As with many others who have written reviews of Lifu Island, we visited this place from a cruise ship: Amsterdam. We did not take an organized tour, we simply took the ship's tender and then walked around. The beaches near where the ship's tender comes...More

A typical Pacific Island that is not commercial in it's presentation.Plan ahead and you won't be disappointed. A visit to the cave is a must but includes a moderately difficult walk. There is a fee to enter and also for the marine park. The islanders...More
