Its a beautiful rock. I have seen like this in Sahara desert. But those are of lime stone. But this is a volcanic rock with excellent silhouette. I love its feature. Its unique.

Located in the center of the Siloli desert, it is a rock formation with the appearance of a tree.
One of the wonders of Uyuni that should not be missed. It is a picturesque place, perfect for good photos. Truly amazing.

Nice place thought that the stone tree would be bigger. Although that does not take away the curiosity of how it was carved naturally. The other rock formations caught my attention the most.

Best to get here early after sunrise or before sunset. Natural and isolated rock formation that looks like a tree. In the middle of a desert reserve. Fantastic photo op

Right in the middle of the desert you will encounter this incredible rock garden, almost like a Dalí painting. Don't miss it...

There are so many posters of this place all around Bolivia, that by the time you arrive here, you feel that you have already seen it too many times. The rock formations surrounding "the tree" are interesting, but there are other spots that are just as nice.

We passed here on way from Uyuni to Chile - the whole area is quite spectacular with some amazing rock formations including this tree.

There are a few foxes here that have become overly aggressive in their hunt for food so please be careful when you get out. My husband and I had been warned by our guide but still got chased.

The 'Rock Tree' is located in the Bolivian Desert which inspired some of Salvador Dali's paintings. The Arbol de Piedra is an incredible natural rock formation that is usually a convenient stop on a tour of Uyuni and the Salt Flats. It is well worth checking out and you can wonder around and touch the other rocks in the surrounding area.

The Rock Tree (Árbol de Piedra) is a tree-like rock formation in the Siloli Desert in Bolivia. It is one of many volcanic rocks that are dispersed all around this unbelievable place. When I arrived there, sometime in the afternoon, the sun was up and the wind was not very strong. Luckily there were not many tourists around so I had the chance to climb other rock formations around this place. I stayed there about 1/2 an hour (not enough to see the whole place). I had the chance to take pictures of this marvelous Rock Tree formation that has a great similarity of a painting by Salvador Dali called "The Enigma of Desire". This stop is a must with all the tour companies and comes in the right moment to take a rest from long stretches of driving. The next time I go there I will make sure to stop for a longer period of time. The place is great for relaxing and appreciate all the surreal natural beauty that is present in this huge Eduardo Abaroa National Park. There is so much to see and do that the standard 3 day tour is not enough to see and do all it has to offer. My advise is to take a private longer tour with a good company like I did with Nueva Aventura. The visit to the Rock Tree which has and still is being eroded by the wind and rain, is well worth the trip.
